I am an overwhelming underachiever and to this point I do my art because it is the only thing I would like to achieve anything in. I see it as a process not entirely mental, technical or spiritual. I have lived in Mississippi all my life and yet have had grandiose dreams about myself for some time. I am not resigned to being another little worker bee for some company. I want to show the world what i am capable of. I look forward to meeting you and discussing new techniques and ideas, as well as sharing my own. Though truth be told I have learned a lot from my college experience it just dosen't seem enough.# Comments

practice practice practice. i think if i wasnt in the class i'm in right now, that wouldn't have looked as good.
a good place for at home figure practice (and i have a site for animals as well) is a lot of gestures, drawing the "whole" picture in about a minute.
the first website is www.posemaniacs.com there's a 30 second drawing challenge you can set up to do a set of drawings at 30 sec., 45 sec, or more intervals, just set that up and then do that for about 10 minutes a day and you'll start to build up a natural feel for anatomy.
the second website is [link] , where you choose either human or animal figures and then you set it up in class mode and set up the same time intervals.

I can do anatomy I just cant do it with charcoal and conte so any tips when it comes to conte or is it just about the quality of the white or gray conte

ahh, i see now. i didn't really use conte or charcoal until last semester. charcoal is a lot easier than conte to get that nice smooth value transition. the key to using charcoal is vine charcoal to lay down a sketch than going over that with a 6B or greater charocoal and blending the living daylights out of it to get a really nice smooth look. and for really soft blending using this cloth thing called a chamois (for some reason pronounced shammy) makes a really nice blend.
with conte, the darker the color of conte makes it easier to blend like charcoal. but with the black and white conte, those you mainly just need to put it where you want it and that's where it stays it doesnt blend too easily. any other questions i'd be happy to try and answer

ok, I don't know English very well, but I will try to help you (:
first I scan a drawing (of course you can photograph drawings, but the highlights are visible on the paper and edit this image in Photoshop more complicated)
then I open the image in Photoshop and start editing (u know how to use Photoshop? this can help u - [link] )
after the drawing has become look decent, I'm looking for suitable texture on the internet if I want to make background...
but sometimes I leave it completely white background, such as here - [link]
that's all!
in general, even if you draw only the traditional art, you still need to know how to use the editor (like Photoshop), otherwise your pictures will not be adequately shown on the Internet
and if you decided to make a serious and beautiful amazing great drawings and show it here, you must buy a scanner

So a scanner is the way to go? What would your recommend for brand and all the settings I will need. BTW, Your English is far better than my Russian as i can not figure any of their text out. So on things that are far to big to scan I am assuming you must photograph, correct? If you photograph it are their any specifics as to flash and camera settings or would a point and shoot work just as well? I apologize about all the questions but I need to buy the equipment.

I have a EPSON scanner and it completely suits me...
But it is only suitable for A4-size paper, larger scanners are very expensive
and I don't need a big scanner, I draw on small sheets... If you want the scanner A3, prepare to spend a lot of money :/
but also you can scan big drawings by parts and combine these parts in Photoshop (however, this is not easy)
I'm not good at cameras and can't suggest any brand
but there are a few things you need to know about photographing the drawings:
1. flash photography - wrong, there will be glare and fhighlights and photo will be illuminated
2. photos taken in daylight are much better-looking than when illuminated with lamps and other artificial light
3. pictures with a tripod is better than holding the camera in the hands
4. photographed from the side better than from the top (like here - [link] ), this will help avoid unnecessary glare and reflections on the paper
5. well, and better to photograph in macro mode
