Hey Allanah! I just saw your journal about having a grey hair haha, I found a white hair around that age too.. and I seem to have loads of grey hairs at the sides now. I'm only 28!
Right now I'm visiting my friend Andrea in Curacao - I just completed a 3 day course to get by basic Open Water SCUBA Diving qualification Andrea is sick right now which sucks, but I hope she gets better before I head home on Friday so that we can go and chill at the beach and stuff!
How are you?

Things haven't been too bad lately, finally got some more creative juices flowing. Once nothing is going on in that field, DA seems out of sight, out of mind, haha.
I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you too!

No problem I guess I'm secretly hoping that you'll start selling awesome Talos necklaces one day, even though that's kind of illegal
That wedding ring on your front page is amazing too, I've not seen a ring like that before (not played much Zelda).
What tools do you use to make all this stuff? I kind of want to have a go
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ilionej In reply to Kermon [2012-01-23 21:35:21 +0000 UTC]
I hope that too. But the lack of time and a bank account make me ignore that hope constantly. As far as I know, there are many more people selling such stuff. And if - if the people of Bethesda would really mind, I'd offer to work for them, giving them the half of what I get for the pendants. XP
Pfuh! Well, you're lucky that you're asking about stuff you could actually make at home, if you have a propper table (if you scroll down that [link] page, you can see me working on such a table at school, another variety: [link] and here's jeweledleah's table: [link] ) but a nice screwed working table would do it too. And well, a metal saw and some needle files, and mostly, brass to work on. Unfortunately if you want to make a ring, you'd need much more.

hey thanks a lot for the info! I wouldn't be too fussed about making rings, but being able to make a Talos pendant for myself, and then making similar gifts for others would be awesome
So what is it called when doing small pieces of detailed metalwork like that? I don't have space for a whole new table/unit unfortunately, but I may be able to clamp something to the kitchen table or something like that.. I guess all you need is to be able to hold it in place while you do the cutting and filing?

Ilionej In reply to Kermon [2012-01-24 17:59:56 +0000 UTC]
Well, only that you just wouldn't be able to do something like this at first go. If you can cut an almost geometrically straight 4cm line and regular circles, then you should consider possibly starting to cut smaller patterns. I didn't do that on one day. I've been in this school for 7 years now.
That sounds good already. But brass is tricky. It's a very hard material, though thinner plates are flexible like hell. All I can really say is - good luck! Learning that on your own - pfuh! Big task. But well, my dad can't read notes but is a god on the piano. :shrugh:
Anyway, what I can promise you are many frustrated hours.

Kermon In reply to Ilionej [2012-01-25 19:36:09 +0000 UTC]
haha.. I can be very dedicated to my hobbies, so I wouldn't mind being frustrated as long as I was improving
What is the technical name for doing work on small items like this? It would help me to find the right tools! Thanks

You might just look up tools a goldsmith needs. The very basics are some needle files and pliers(really just the least you'd need). But beware. That stuff isn't cheap.

Kermon In reply to ryostag [2010-07-26 20:45:58 +0000 UTC]
oh hai yeah we ain'tent been very active on here huh? Well, I'm doing pretty good thanks Enjoying Parkour a lot, it's just so much fun and it's great to be able to do new stuff each week (sometimes by learning new techniques, but mostly just working up the guts to try simple but slightly scary looking things out haha)
How's things with you? You enjoying your summer break at the moment? Been doing many plays or anything fun like that? :3

ryostag In reply to Kermon [2010-07-28 07:02:34 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you're having fun! I wish I could say I've been doing theatre related things, but I still haven't heard back from the theatre I was supposed to intern at this summer. They've been really busy and I was finally able to get the woman on the phone earlier today (tuesday) and she said she'd try to get back to me later in the evening but that didn't happen. :/ Not much I can do about it, I've been trying to get a hold of her for 2 weeks and I even stopped by once. At least I can say I'm trying.
Otherwise my summer is going alright. School starts on Aug 23 and I am kind of glad to be going back but it's so scary to think it's my last year @_@

Grr. Well, people are always on about the economy and how it's difficult to find jobs at the moment so I guess getting spots for internships could be just as difficult.
Heh, I wish I had a month of holiday left :0 And your last year, you're almost all growded up! What are you gonna do now? D:

Kermon In reply to Life-Inspired-Artist [2010-07-10 00:43:40 +0000 UTC]
I'm doing pretty good thanks Been slightly overtraining recently and wearing myself out cuz I'm enjoying doing Parkour so much, got to try and force myself to take it easy for a few days.. it's really not easy, especially considering we're all getting together tomorrow for a jam, and then we're going on a wee trip down the cost on Thursday to look for new training spots.. and I want to go to both!
How are things with you?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Life-Inspired-Artist In reply to Kermon [2010-07-10 20:02:51 +0000 UTC]
Oh wow, so you're still doing all of the parkour stuff. That's awesome~ ;D lol
Things with me are going pretty well, just bored and can't really find a second job to occupy my time... But then again I'm picky with jobs because it's not a necessity to have a second one at the moment. So I'm pretty much just waiting for school to start, while I hang around and work on occasion. D:
Glad to hear you've been doing well though~

Kermon In reply to Life-Inspired-Artist [2010-07-10 20:54:50 +0000 UTC]
Yep ^___^ I mean I kinda jumped around on stuff before anyway, but just with no technique to speak of xD now at least I know some stuff about how to look after my joints on landing, and I can do vaults with a lot more fluidity than I used to \o/ Not to mention my confidence is improving so I can think about doing stuff now that I would just have thought was crazy before, like say jumping from one rail to another with both feet at the same time (stepping one foot at a time is easy enough, but jumping with both feet to a small landing zone is scary!)
You sound like a bit of a workaholic! What about taking some time to read, watch some DVDs or go out for walks or something? I think over the next couple of days I'm going to watch a lot of anime so that I don't get tempted to go outside and train

Life-Inspired-Artist In reply to Kermon [2010-07-10 22:30:24 +0000 UTC]
Jumping and landing with both feet at the same time, sounds ridiculous.. Definitely intimidating... D:
Lol, I am not a workaholic. I work 2-3 days a week.. part time. I'm so bored, and video games and movies got old after the first month. lol
Walks, omg not here.. 101 degrees with a heat index that makes it like 110. No thanks. XD
