Rachel my dear, I'm sorry. I think that I failed that CS101 midterm. Β (My professor posted the midterm solutions and they look almost nothing like what I put down as answers.) I apologize for making a promise to you that I couldn't keep. (I promised you last quarter that I wouldn't fail.) The good news is that I have all the time in the world to study now. Not that that makes me feel any less miserable about breaking my promise. I'm sorry my dear.

My dear Doctor, please don't feel bad about breaking the promise... I know that it's a hard course and you haven't failed the whole class so you haven't really failed yet. one test (even a mid term) does not cause failures... you'll pass your final I'm sure and pass the class.

I forgot to mention exactly why it is that I fear failure my dear. It's not often I discuss my family on the Internet. A few years ago my sister and I got into a fight. I don't remember what about. All I know was that I had acted in her best interests. What she said to me...has haunted me every time I sit down to take a final. What she said was and I remember the exact words: "You know Jamie, one of these days you're going to fail...and I hope I'm around to see it." And now you know my dear. You know why. Put simply I was mentally scared by sister. Now ever primed for failure. It's...not something I like to talk about.

Everyone fails at least once in our lives... your sister saying that was just a sibling threat when she was angry. I always believe that you will do great in your classes and I think you put to much on what your sister said. Take some deep breaths and think "I can do anything. Pass or fail, this won't stop me." when you think you're going to fail.
