Okay, I have to ask... what's Anti-lithium?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KissTheSunrise In reply to ArtXWill [2014-01-11 04:39:53 +0000 UTC]

I've never had anyone here ask me about anti-matter so congratulations, you're the first.

Lithium, because of it's atomic weight and other similar attributes to helium is thought by forward thinking scientists (me) to be the next logical element after helium where Physicists will discover tiny Lithium anti-matter particles existing for a fraction of a nanosecond after colliding them in a Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider like the one in Brookhaven, NY. or the particle accelerator at Univ. California Berkeley or even the LHC in Europe.  Trust me on this, I already have some rogue Anti-lithium hidden in my lipstick case just in case something like Anti-Neon shows up. but I'd bet your life it won't.

To illustrate Matter vs Anti-matter, a scientist recently made a very simplistic illustration of the creation of the universe by creating two large spheres in the same rotation 180 degrees apart in the universe.  One is made of pure Matter.  The other is made of it's long suspected but invisible evil twin, Anti-matter.  He theorized that at some point in time they collided creating an enormous nuclear explosion the size of which we have never seen (or will) and few can imagine.  If both Matter and Anti-matter had the same number of elements or particles it would have destroyed whatever was left of both spheres and the "universe" would have never been created.  But ... in this illustration, Matter had at least one more particle and was victorious in creating a universe made of matter.  Of course Anti-matter still exists though mostly in space, plus it's been very hard to prove it's existence except in theory until recently after the huge colliders were built and physicists began their experiments.  As long as Anti-matter remains inferior by at least one particle the universe is stable and everything is cool.

I hope I've thoroughly confused you.

BeyondJen In reply to KissTheSunrise [2014-01-17 23:53:51 +0000 UTC]

I'm totally creeping on your reply here and wow. I think I understood an inferior amount but I totally dig it. So...does that mean there's a helium matter and a helium anti-matter? Is that it? And you and other insanely smart people think the next anti-matter to be discovered is lithium anti-matter?

I thought anti-matter was a singular thing, not a type of thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KissTheSunrise In reply to BeyondJen [2014-01-21 07:13:23 +0000 UTC]

haha !! oh good I like that.

Theoretically all of the elements in our periodic table of elements (including those yet to be discovered) exist in both matter and anti-matter (theoretically).

If you look at a chart of the periodic table of elements like this one:  www.ptable.com/   you'll see there are many factors to each element that make it unique.
Yep, I do think that lithium will be the next element to have it's anti-matter exposed, but but will take a bigger particle accelerator to expose the anti-quarks and antimuons and such.

Correct, matter is composed of particles, anti-matter of anti-particles (that is if you believe in anti-matter in the first place) then everything would jive with E=mc2
my problem is I don't believe light (c) is a constant.  i believe the speed of light varies and actually is slowing down.  there have never been two identical measurements
of the speed of light since Einstein's theory was first introduced. partially because of how they measure it, but that's nearly another topic and a dead ball out of bounds - ruled irrelephant on the field. ya dig ?

ArtXWill In reply to KissTheSunrise [2014-01-13 14:10:24 +0000 UTC]

Wow! Well, people should definitely ask you about anti-mater and anything else you have a passion for!    I love it that you were so thoughtful to send me a such a wonderful reply.  Anti-matter... ahhhh  I just didn't have my mind in the right gear.  I was too busy looking though the variety of things in your gallery that this through me off.

I totally followed you.  Although, I'm completely flummoxed how you were able to create a containment bubble in your lipstick case to hold stable anti-lithium.  Definitely rogue.  Still, I don't think you have to worry about Anti-Neon any time soon.  There's probably enough to worry about with misuse of neon lipstick already.

So, I have to ask... what do you do?  Also, you've got another follower.  I'm hoping to have more fun conversations like this in the future.  Really made my Monday.  Thanks!

You're welcome I'm glad you liked it.

Lipstick & bubble-gum & a steady hand = easy.
Neon is a noble gas, so it deserves some ink based on it's nobility alone.
Neon lipstick is great for finding tulips in the dark.

Weeeee... taking my brain out for a spin.... noble gases, nocturnal botanica, astronomy and....  hair styling?  Better watch out for those split ends... never know where one might lead.

What are you going to school for and why the sabbatical?  I mean... counting stars CAN take a long long time... well, come to think of it so can splitting hairs and dividing by zero.

Not really, just a semi-normal personality.

They all lead back to my scalp, the traitors.

What for ?  Punishment for solving the 'Gilligan Island' mystery.
Why vacay ?  private reasons (My crazy meter is stuck on: "Dial 911").
Counting stars is for astronauts and the NSA.  They spy on aliens too.

1+1≠3.  It's a mathematical fallacy.

ArtXWill In reply to KissTheSunrise [2014-01-23 13:37:54 +0000 UTC]

Ha.  Of course I was asking, what are you studying in school.  But yes, to some degree I think we continue to go to school for punishment.  Rather sadistic.  *thinks about it* ...I wasn't aware that there was a Gilligan's Island mystery.  Unless you talking about that fact that the professor could make just about anything from a pair of coconuts but couldn't make a damn raft to get them off the island.

You forgot one on your list... counting stars is also the job of the Paparazzi.

Sounds like you could use some dialing back on your crazy meter.  Don't let that one get away from you... you start seeing purple people eaters and hearing odd rock-in-roll music if it's totally wacked.

Applied Mathematics & Physics.

Oh heck yes there's a mystery in nearly everything.  Remember the title of the show was
"Gilligan's Island".  Not the "Professor's Island" or Mary Ann's or the Howell's, just Gilligan's.
That's a good place to start on the mystery.

DOOOHHHH !!!!  faux pas.

I could indeed and will start that very thing in a few days.  I like purple and odd rock n roll,
I hope it's not too late for me.

Wow.  You're one smart cookie then!  Probably a white chocolate and Macadamia nut one.  I took an astro physics class in college for fun... and an Applied Mathematics class as an elective.  I studied Computer/Electrical Engineering, but I had so many interests I took a few extra classes when I could fit them in... like astronomy and anthropology (really cool because the instructor talked about some of the digs she worked on).

Hmmm...  So what's your take on it being called Gilligan's Island then?  Speaking of Islands and mysteries... one that has ALWAYS facinated me is the story of the Oak Island treasure.  I'm sure you've heard of that one.

I guess things aren't getting better??  Just please please please don't stick a fork in my head... it's under too much pressure at the moment and might explode all over the place.  Very messy.

not necessarily. definitely a nutty cookie though.
astro-physics, applied mathematics, computer/electrical engineering, astronomy & anthropology.  my goodness !!
i'd say you're the smart one and i'm a cookie.

my take ? it's hollywood, so of course it makes sense.. ehh ?  unbelievably i've never heard of the oak island treasure.  i'll  read up on it.

things get worse until either they change for the better or ... not. :/
i'm not typically a violent person, so i think you needn't worry.

tell me sir what do you do to stay busy and out of an archeological dig ??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtXWill In reply to KissTheSunrise [2014-02-05 18:08:09 +0000 UTC]

Ha!  You're definitely a nut.

Yeah, sorry.. I have a lot of interest... not exactly sure if you would consider me a smarter cookie though!

Oh, you might enjoy the story of the Oak Island treasure.  I was always fascinated by it.

Well, not being violent is good... but.... okay.... I won't worry to bad then.   If you ever what someone to type at... I'm all eyes!

Well, I work at a hospital and manage the data warehouse.  That keeps me very busy.  I also enjoy drawing, photography, and working on things.  I built my own 3D printer, but it currently needs to be repaired.  Some bearings wore out.  An archaeological dig sounds like it would be lots of fun... of course (while I can be a very patient person at times), I would probably just get too excited to want to go slow enough!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KissTheSunrise In reply to ArtXWill [2014-02-07 06:09:34 +0000 UTC]

true dat.

it's ok, being curious about things, it will keep you from becoming bored.

a programmer/data base guy eh ?  what kind of database is it ?  who built your data warehouse ?
when i was an undergrad, i worked part-time in the university's data center. i wrote my first program there, as well as fixing computers.
i met lots of "interesting" people who work in IT, most were nice, very smart and had other interests outside their work, like you.

i have no clue how to build a 3D printer. an archaeological dig sounds like getting dirty and sleeping with creepy bugs all around.  lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtXWill In reply to KissTheSunrise [2014-02-10 13:11:39 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it will definitely keep you from becoming bored!

Well, it's a proprietary database designed by a company called McKesson.  Wouldn't exactly been my choice for a data warehouse, but the medical industry hasn't been very strong on the IT side, so they have relied heavily on companies to come in and deliver ready solutions.  So I have to work within the framework I'm given.  Makes it more of a challenge!

Oh, there ARE lots of interesting people in IT.

Eh, the 3D printer was fun to build.  Something like that actually fits more with my degree than what I'm currently doing, but that's okay.  I think I have better job security doing what I do now. (Which is important!)

So, what about you?  Tell me a little about yourself.  What do you like to do?
