I just wanted to say that I appreciate what you're doing, but you never gave me a chance to take those manipulated screen shots/manga scans off myself, I would have. I got warnings from the DA that they might cancel my account, but I didn't know untill you told me that what I was doing was wrong. I do completly original art to, and I would like a chance to display it.
I think it would be nice if you gave people a chance to do what's right first, insted of reporting them right off the bat.

eto.. Koring-san, i'm very inexperienced with
art sites like deviant art. i'm just an amateur who likes making wallpapers. i was not aware that i was using stolen scans, i have gotten most of them from sites where i'm a resgistered user, like minitokyo and animepaper where they allow us to use these scans for making wallpapers. the rest of the scans were available at fan sites like animegalleries.net,
which are freely available to everybody.the owners made these sites with the purpose of sharing images, so i was really not aware that it could be consired an Art Theft. as an anime fan, this is my hobby, i only wish to make walls that fellow anime fans will enjoy.
do tell me if you want me to delete my entire
gallery, or some specific images, because i've worked really hard on them, i would like to save as many as i can.

Hi! Wow, I noticed you really put some efforts on getting these art thieves banned...that's awesome, I'm totally with you. I reported myself many art thieves, and I'll keep reporting as many as I find.

But yeah, THAT guy, the problem with art thieves like that is, they assume (correctly it seems) that nobody will notice that they draw in 4 different styles. Not only that, they rarely have anything at all to say about their own drawings. Talk about a red flag... You might have read this already ----> [link]
It's pretty funny.
But yeah, if I were in charge, I'd automatically ban all 100+ people who fav+'d the stolen artwork simply for being idiots. Think about it, one deviation has, like, 450 hits on it. And not one person said to themselves; "A 15 year old brazilian kid made this? Hmm..."

XD Well, not all of them act like that, I know some "smarter" ones, that really say they are from Japan (although their english are always really good XD ), develope a whole story for the stolen drawings and not only that, they have the guts to use the original japanese website as their own!! O_O It really amazes me how far they can go.....specially when they get the support of people that blindly believe them.
Oh yeah, about that deviation, I've read it already, but it's awesome anyway, so I read it again XD

There's no brazilian issue at all, but I do notice a lot of stolen artwork is from south Asian, south American and eastern European users.
I agree, I find that most anime style art produced outside of Japan lacks a certain "something". For instance, looking at my artwork, its fairly obvious that I'm not a native Japanese artist. But Korean and Chinese artists are very close. Probably a result of the Japanese outsourceing some of their anime productions to those countries.

I think is, koring's doings are are too much but not wrong... just too much. It is enough that the art theives are banned and it is too much to make them public humiliated and announced it to the whole world that this person is a BIG FAT ART THIEF.
I think the staff just want to say that if you caught an art theif you don't have to show off saying that this person is busted and etc. just report them. Its like you're showing off and telling people that you are right. It is like, you are showing that devArt officials don't do anything at all, well in my opinion.
You don't have to post it in your journal, the rules and etc. because I know that they have already read it and maybe they have overread it.
"Learn to draw or get the hell off Deviantart! This is no place for posers" Not because you can draw better you can say that to anyone who is less talented than you are.
And it is not mature to send notes and argue with the person that you accused to be an art theif and that is why so many devartist who came barging to your account and flaming you... Well, I think its okay for you, though.

I don't have a problem with people who are just learning to draw, I do however take issue with art thieves. Also, I typically don't argue with art thieves, I leave the "faq8" and if they ignore it, mock it, or "hide" it, then I report them. Bitching at me won't put the stolen artwork back in their galleries, nor will it restore the respect of people who once visited their pages.

The deviant staff was way outta line with this one. They mistreated and misunderstood koring, who was only trying to do what all of us should. Even if a policy was broken, they had no right to reply in anger to an honest and rightfull act, that was only trying to stop a thief. And despite policies, I also believe they had no right to censor koring's journal, remove their news post, or threaten to ban koring. they got a problem with my opinions, that's their problem, and they can deal with it.

I'm with you on this. Art theft is just plain wrong, and I can easily envision a full blown war between art theifs, DA admin, and independants such as yourself looming on the horizon. I hope not, because youre making a bluntly obvious point, admin can't find and capture all the art theifs on a site this big.

Like I've said before. There is no way Deviantart staff can look at every single image submitted each day. This is why every image has a " Report Policy Violation" link. So honest Deviants can inform DA staff about art theft.
