I'm sorry to say this. But Kurotobe has been passed away.
I'm the user of MFG (Mugen Fighting Guild) and he was one of them. How he got passed away is unknown. So my condolences.

There are a couple of methods.

1.) Use and already existing sprite and take colors from there.

2.) This is the method I usually take. Select all of the colors of the skin using the Magic Wand Tool, make sure Anti-Alias is off and Continuous is off as well. Use the Level Adjustment (Ctrl+L or Command+L for Mac) and play with the sliders.

3.) Select one color of the skin and play around with the Hue/Saturation adjustment (Ctrl+ U or Command+U for Mac)

I normally use step 3 for fine tuning. If i want secondary lighting or dynamic color scheme and stuff like that.

uhm do you use photoshop? its not really hard for thighs...but them calves!? just keep practicing and let me see some stuff.
