Not much can be said of me at the moment.I enjoy creating things. Simple as that.
While my preferred medium is digital art I also appreciate acoustic methods. Hopefully, as I progress, I'll be able to make something that captures the mind as well as the eye. And then broadens them both.

It has been awhile since I used Bryce but I agree, for me the hardest part was always terrain and terrain textures. Things like walls and floors are rather easy but with the non-flat surface of terrains and bryce`s handling it never seems right. So a couple suggestions if I may:
...go ask questions over at daz3d and renderosity
...browse the bryce pics there and when you see some good textures ask the artists what they did
...like you say study , and play in the texture options.
...if the new version can use pic textures might try that
...also, consider making your landscapes with several smaller pieces rather than one big piece of landscape, sometimes it helps
...keep your eye on the art mags because some come with cover CDs that have textures and older versions of software, I highly recommend Vue

...this is about the only online presence I have so i know what ya mean. A good friend of mine once told me that if you ever stop learning then your art is dead. We all start at the beginning, the main thing is to be understanding of yourself , keep learning , and have fun with it. Let me know if I can help.
