Oh no D: NaNoWriMo sounds so hard thoughXD I'm helping my sanity by doing a sketch a day everyday in the month of november It's a lot of fun! I'll have to post them all so you can see them. It gives me something to look forward to:3 but sometimes I have to make up for days where I was so busy I couldn't even do a 5 minute sketchXD

Yes it has. I'd rather work Old Time for the rest of forever just to get out of school right now. I actually feel slightly relaxed at work, even on busy days just because I don't have to pay attention to a lecture or learn anything.

umm..I can to a degree, but they really don't care, when there is a will, there's a way, and they believe that everything has a way. So they dock points if you don't have something in on time. They're sticklers.

Well, they think there would have been a better transition to get your work in on time. They don't tolerate absences either. The only way you get a registered absence is if you were in the hospital or someone in your family died for it to be a registered absence. And we only get 3 absences per class that meet twice a week. It kind sucks :/

That is so not fair. And I couldn't care less that life isn't fair because what if THEY need to be absent? Do they want people to say that THEY can't be absent because absences aren't tolerated? I doubt it. Why can't teachers and other adults remember what it was like to be our age? To be in school and have to follow rules? If they did, they'd realize that what they're doing to students really isn't okay.

But this is college. We're adults now, and we are paying to go to school. We should be able to choose whether or not to show up. There needs to be discipline in elementary and high school, but once we get to college, we don't need to be disciplined anymore.

But there are schools that are serious about your work life and whether or not you become a professional. What if you had a customer that you were being paid by then to all of a sudden call in absent. I think its a little different between art schools to regular college schools.

Well, if you're being paid regardless of attendance, what does it matter if they show up or not?

And the point of letting us decide whether or not we show up for class instead of being forced to show up like dogs who still need to be trained to come when their called is that we ARE adults. As adults, we need to be able to make our own mistakes and learn from them. If we don't want to go to class, and we fail because we did not go, that is our fault.

It's a nice idea that they are doing it because they want us to succeed, but we cannot succeed with all the adults in our lives treating us like children. There comes a point in our lives when they have to let us make our own choices. And that point comes when we get to college and decide our own schedule. We have to be able to decide our lives for ourselves, and we cannot continue to go through life being told what to do and where to be.

Exactly, sure they are being paid and they could care less if you're there for a lecture, but every lecture is very important in art school. But the world is run by those who show up, if you don't show up, there isn't anyone to create the world that we want. They wouldn't be treating us like children because of the fact that we get the absences that we want versus only having a little amount of absences in order for you to be responsible for what days you take off in order to keep yourself caught up and in order for you to succeed. We choose when we take those days off. They just call out when you are not in class.

We ourselves are responsible for our attendance. Sure its fucked up that some schools only have a limited amount of three absences, but that's the essence of life I believe. You can't make something out of yourself if you are not there.

We succeed when we want to succeed and make something out of ourselves. If we do not try and commit to our schooling or our job pretty much (speaking as an art student) they we will make sacrifices either with our attendance or pushing ourselves through the day to make sure that you don't miss something that could be EXTREMELY important. This is just what I have learned, I'm not trying to argue with you. I find it better that we have less days to have an absence. It forces us to learn to be better with our time management and also to stay healthy. Which can be hard, but all you can do is try your best and show up when others don't.
