None! We went through the edge of Le Mans, Rouen and Toulouse but apart from that we only did country routes. Your French countryside is beautiful, especially Dordogne and Cathar regions...

Oh! Pity! Some cities are really beautiful. But I can only agree with you, countryside is beautiful. I hope one day you can visit some of them. We have a lot of beautiful citadels/fortress/castles here!

We have been to some rural towns with those features and there are beautiful. I especially remember the town where 'Chocolat' was filmed (Flavigny ?). Coincidentally we went on the day the local monastery had an open day. Both it and the town were fantastic. The problem with cities is traffic, parking and too many people!
