Tag, quality deviant, youβre it! Quality doesn't mean that you have a lot of followers, or a lot of messages. It means that youβre nice to other people, and you deserve to be happy. If you get this message, someone is telling you that they love you as you are, and they donβt care how many followers you have. Send this to 10 deviants who deserve it. If you break the chain, nothing will happen. But itβs just good to let someone know that you love them!

Oh dear, looks like someone got angry at all the negative posts on her Pro-Bald princess picture...
It's too bad she didn't respond to your post. You made some very good points.

Seriously?
Now I almost feel bad, I wasn't trying to be Johnny Raincloud on her well-intended idea. Oh well, thanks for the support. I half expected to be bombarded by negative feedback for being a big ol' meanie.

No, a lot of people didn't agree with her viewpoint. There were even some that thought she had copy-pasted it, which is most likely why she got rid of comments. She was just after the Favs+, because that meant you supported her.
If you got negative feedback, then the rest of us would have supported you. After all, we shared the same idea that Disney doesn't conform to everyone.

Ah. Attentions whores, all around, then?
I guess it's just because Disney hits me right in the childhood, so I'm protective of it. I hope it continues to be one of those timeless things. It will never get old!

Don'tcha love running into them?
I love Disney. It's an amazing company and is such a huge source of imagination in the world.

I plan to keep all of my old VHS tapes (oh yes, I will always have them) so that my hypothetical children can watch them, when I have them sometime in the distant future. If, y'know, kids aren't watching holograms or something by that time, and VHS tapes aren't an even more extinct a technology than they are now.

We'd have to get past 3D first and that's at such a slow start...
I'd keep them, but VHS can lose their good quality so easily that DVDs are just easier to keep.

I have a hard time getting a clear picture on my television now, so I do get the impression that VHS is even more ancient than I thought. But mind you, these VHS tapes are numerous, and it would take a fortune to replace them all with current technology; and my stubbornness probably stems from a strong sense of nostalgia, although I'll probably have to get around to replacing them eventually.
But anyways, most unfair question in the world: your top Disney movies?

I would probably collect the VHS Case for the movie and fill it with little memorabilia or trinkets with the movie instead.
At least they are starting to come back out of teh Disney Vault so they can be purchased.
Hunchback of Notre Dame, followed up by Brave and Little Mermaid. You?

Oh, that's a great idea! Thank you, fellow internet comrade!
My favorites has to be Spirit, followed by a tie between the Lion King and Mulan.
Now that you mention it, though, I do like the Hunchback of Notre Dame; I found it stood apart from other Disney movies in the fact that it crosses into some darker themes other movies wouldn't touch (even though it's nowhere near as upsetting as the original tale). It just reaffirms that Disney movies are not confined to a limited age group, particularly as I watch them now again as a teen and sort of rediscover their magic.
And I haven't seen Brave yet! A friend and I are going to see it tomorrow, but I'm taking it that if you like it so much, it must be good?

No problem.
...Spirit? Are you thinking of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron? That's not Disney, that is by Dreamworks.
Did you know there are people who think Disney should have kept the original ending? Imagine bringing a child to see it...
It is really good.

LadyCyclone In reply to EbonyShroud [2012-06-28 19:48:40 +0000 UTC]
Oh wow, that's embarrassing! Yes, I am thinking of Spirit; I guess I just assumed that any animated picture that good would be a Disney flick, but now that I think about it, Dreamworks is also very respectable. My ignorance, my bad!
I read a little bit about it, and although the original is, unfortunately, more realistic, it's horribly sad. Maybe it's naive, but I enjoy happy endings a majority of the time. If Hunchback was true to its original telling, however, I'm not entirely sure that would fall along the lines of a children's movie.
Looking forward to seeing it, then! And Pixar made an acquisition of Disney a few years ago, right?

That's okay, people think movies like Thumbelina and Anastasia are Disney movies. They are just created by an ex-Disney animator.
I like both sad and happy endings, but we as a society are still unfortunately in the idea that if its in 2D animation, it must be for kids. A lot of people watch movies that are animated and definitely not for kids only to scream because it had gore or sex. There would be no way that Hunchback of Notre Dame would have been perceived correctly because the two sides would fight about it.
They were merged with Disney, but it has always been with the Disney Corporation since the beginning.

Just because something's animated, doesn't mean that it's necessarily for kids. Sure, kids can enjoy it too, but people of all ages can find both humor and worth to a good movie, simply because it's a good movie, even if it's a "cartoon". Disney is the master of this, and I think way over there in Japan, Hayao Miyazaki is also a master storyteller and artist. Because I don't think anyone in their right mind can hate a Miyazaki film; I may like some of his pictures more than others, but his works are fantastic. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Well, the argument goes both ways too. There are some animated movies that are rated R and of course there is the issue with hentai, but parents make the mistake of checking out for their children and getting mad it isn't what they were expecting. That is what I was referring to.
I think I know that director. Didn't he do Spirited Away?

LadyCyclone In reply to EbonyShroud [2012-06-30 00:16:48 +0000 UTC]
That's a fair point, but that sort of discrepancy can be easily sorted out through a little more careful supervision on the parents' part, right? Honest mistakes can be made, but if I was a parent of young children I'd definitely check out the movie first to see if it was the kind of thing that they should be seeing. Plenty of animated movies have gore and adult content in them, it's just making sure you don't hand THOSE ones to kids.
Miyazaki has done plenty of noteworthy films that have gained attention in the United States - Spirited Away is definitely one of them. Others that might ring a bell are Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Movie Castle, Castle in the Sky, and more.

It can be easily sorted. However, there are still ignorant people who want to believe cartoons are for children, no matter what.
I have seen Howl's Moving Castle, but haven't found the others available where I live.
