# About me

I thought i write here something, what the heck...

Greetings fellow "artist", who happened to visit my place here. Perhaps you came for a reason, or just randomly clicked on my name, but it doesn't realy matter to me. Just hi.

About my pictures? Well, that's an interesting thing.

-(just deleted a whole page of meaningless text here...who cares about the history here?...)-

So!..My form af "art" is mostly visions digitalised. Some time ago, about 2 years from now, i tried out surrealism, as it was realy challenging to understand those pictures, and i got into my own style. I'm not meant to be a surrealist however.

My pictures are supposed to inflict some emotions form the viewer, and/or make the viewer think about what is happening. When you see one of my pics and are like "What the hell?.." then just try to look on it a symbolic way. With your own symbolic keys. Blood for example is not necesseraly just blood or violence. For me it is sometimes 'sacrifice', the point is not that blood is on the ground. The point is: what was that blood spilled for, and by who?

I always have a hard time finding out good titles. I don't want them to manipulate the viewer's imagination, as i think Art is supposed to unleash imagination and fantasy and a whole lot of emotions. Most people prefer nice pictures with beautiful landscapes and such, or the 12 thousandth picture of his/her favorite anime character, and look for those pics. So whenever i am asked to do someting like that, i try my very best to smuggle something interesting into the scene. Sometimes it is pretty hard, but that is what i need to make myself willing to do those pics.

My pictures may make you think:
"That guy is nuts."
I say i fear the people who do not show such feelings anywhere in any form. Those, who cover themselves with the make-up of sanity. Becouse one day it may erupt. Yeaahh...i am not realy a social guy...

Anyway, if you are someone who can accept such pictures, and able to look on them long enough to make an impression (other than 'holy sh*t';), share me what you could make out of it if you like. Or not...most people doesn't, so i'm used to it...

Current Residence: Szolnok, Hungary

You are welcome. Where do you study to learn to use these applications? My high school here barely looked at coreldraw, and didnt even look at others.

We learned those in school. I went to a very media based school and one of the programs was acctually game-development, which I studied in

It's one of the best game-developing high schools in all of sweden and now I've applied to college to get the paper that I qualify for it so I can more easily get a job. The funny thing is that I'm not going to learn any new programs

Makes me wish i lived in Sweden then. Here, there is no school degree on game development whatsoever, highschool, college or university. Good luck with you applience anyway.

Do you already have an idea where you want to work specificly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ruukh In reply to Lakdav [2011-05-20 16:24:52 +0000 UTC]

thank you ^^ well me and some friends had an idea to start our own game company after we all finished college, one of us is already studying there and the others, like me, have applied to it.

What I want to do in this company, and probably will do , is the concept art, 3D models and the texturing we are alreade spawning ideas on games to make when we graduate in 3 years (hopefully)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lakdav In reply to Ruukh [2011-05-20 19:21:35 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm ambitious. Good luck with that as well. You gotta have some pretty original game design ideas though, if you wish to survive long in the industry...but that is much far away yet.

Is Sweden on the lead about game design and/or art, thats the question. To my experience, if the country doesnt support a specific industry, the companies starting in that industry may have a hard time setting in...

Ruukh In reply to Lakdav [2011-05-20 23:02:07 +0000 UTC]

We're not on the lead in gaming industry per se, but we are among the leading on fps games with our Battlefield games developed by DICE, we also have Starbreeze who made the riddick games and some others I've forgot the title on.

We might not have the most original ideas, considering everything's pretty much been done already. We only hope we can do something funny to spice things up ;3. We are mainly going to aim for the rpg genre and maybe do some fightning games later on. As for now, we only have a lot of fun coming up with hilarious ideas and stupid things to add in the few things we have growing in our minds XDDD

Lakdav In reply to Ruukh [2011-05-21 05:27:34 +0000 UTC]

Humor is always good, especialy in FPS games. Games of the genre tend to be way too serious. I say you concentrate on that Serious Sam and Portal did manage to bring in the humor, and were pretty successfull. Also reality can provide an endless stream of things to make fun out of (while tragedy is alway the same: love, death, and/or some kind of madness), so that can be a good base for originality.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ruukh In reply to Lakdav [2011-05-21 15:05:49 +0000 UTC]

you've played Serious Sam?? which one of them did you like the best??

sorry I'm a die hard fan of serious sam the second encounter ^^ so I'm always happy when I hear people like/play the game but I will certainly think of what you say. We are all fan of games and always over analyse them and pick them apart to the molecular level in order to really know what makes them good/bad etc

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lakdav In reply to Ruukh [2011-05-21 15:50:58 +0000 UTC]

I only played the second, and only remember the humor in it...which is much to say since i am not a great fan of shooters... Most of them just blend together in my memory...

On my part, 3 things can make a game memorable: Good complex story with complex characters, humor and lastly a uniques stylised look. These make a game. What matters much are gameplay, challenge(with appropriate rewards), immersion (graphics and sound/music) and control. If these are not in place, it can break the game...

Ever played Psychonauts? A good example of a good game, though not an fps...

Ruukh In reply to Lakdav [2011-05-21 16:31:03 +0000 UTC]

I have not played that game...might look into it someday

I agree with you on these things, but graphics is far down on the list to me (even though I'm specialized in it XDDD) a game can have crappy graphics as long as it fits the game and the rest is top notch.

Take Neverwinter Nights for example, the graphics is quite embarassing actually but everything else makes up for it (and I might have a little bit of nostalgia attached to it ^^) the story is, as usual from Bioware, deep, complex and well performed, the music is plain awesome and the gameplay is as it should be in more classic rpg games.
Another example is GitarooMan, quite similar in gameplay to Guitar Hero, only much better, more fun and it came first. The graphics are not that awesome there either but they are charming to no end. In this game I care less for the story and more for the gameplay and humor/cameos.

I think that I care more for how well a game is performed than the single pieces that makes it, with more emphasis on gameplay and story. Still there are games that fascinates me only because of the graphics like Crysis, it's quite fun until halfway through but to stand in the water and look at the sunset and not being able to tell if it's real or not is quite amazing. Folklore also fits here simply because of all the beautiful colours.

it's really fun to discuss games with people who actually knows what they are talking about^^ I can get really frustrated on some people who thinks a game sucks only because you can't do stuff in that game that you might be able to do in others. Resident Evil is a perfect example of this. People whine on the fact that you can't shoot and run at the same time but they forget that those games were horror games in the beginning, where it added to the fear when you suddenly couldn't charge in like in other games like Doom etc.

Lakdav In reply to Ruukh [2011-05-22 06:08:01 +0000 UTC]

lol. Here i was, trying my best not to make graphics more irrelevant not to upset you, and it seems we are on the same page on it already...

I can say that i played Neverwinter nights quite much, more than i played the sequel with all its gorgeous graphics. Indeed it has an entirely different feel, which is not connected to graphics in any way.
Planescape: Torment was a game that i only began to notice a year ago when searching for highly praised RPGs. From the time of Baldur's gate 2, with the graphical abilities of the engine. I didnt play much with the BG games or Icewind Dale games, but P:T had such a style and setting that it didnt let go of my curiousity.

And from the bottom message on your posts tells that you played that certain Alice game Now that is a good example. Its great in almost every important aspect (control could be a little better, but its far from gamebreaking). It wont get any better. The strange thing is with alice and other older good games, that many fans would give their left arm for a remake, when all that evolved in time was the graphics.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ruukh In reply to Lakdav [2011-05-22 08:53:37 +0000 UTC]

indeed...I'm looking forward to the sequel Alice: Madness Returns that's coming out sometime this summer if I remember correctly I'm looking so forward to it and I really hope it lives up to it's predecessor.

But my hottest wish for now is Last Guardian from team Ico. I dunno if you've played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus but I can say that those game are artistic masterpices. Practically no enemies to "kill", really deep story, gorgeous graphics, wonderful music and masteful feeling, it's all about experience the journey and surroundings. I highly recomend that you play Shadow of the Colossus, it's my top 3 favourite game if not THE favourite game .

If you're into the horror genre I also recomend Silent Hill 1,2 and 3, since they keep all the mystery (which the later games do not >_>) and Amnesia: the Dark Descent, THE best horror game ever that actually got me to s**t my pants ^^'. They are great psychological horror games that focus more on the knowledge of that you DON'T know and the fear of it.
But don't play Amnesia if you're weak of heart, it's not for the fainthearted.

Lakdav In reply to Ruukh [2011-05-22 10:06:47 +0000 UTC]

Well...holy shit. Didnt even know about any sequel to alice coming and i just watched the 3 teaser trailers...Im seriously hyped right now

My only means of playing is on my computer, and its not such a powerhouse, i dont know if Shadow of the Colossus would run at all (just checked requirements, it cant).

I love a good horror game, but frankly, im not good at them. Tryed Silent hill 1, but couldnt handle the controls on PC. Silent hill 2 is a great one, but i got lost pretty much at the start, and couldnt figure out where to go. Might try it again someday though, i hate it when i cant finish a seemingly good game. Amnesia is again something i will try once i can update my PC a bit...

If you are into dark fantasy, i would recommend the Legacy of Kain series. Not a spectacle of gameplay or graphics, but the story the setting and the voice acting are beyond epic. Though it is hard to find even on the internet. I played Soul Reaver first, and let me tell you that i never got drawned in to a game this much by its intro ever since.

I must ask....have you ever played jazz jackrabbit 2???
