Alfred is a young nation, and as such he still has a youthful exuberance that is both charming and exasperating all at the same time. He Honestly wants to be friends with the whole world, and to reach that he often plays the fool, either ignoring the or pretending not to know the history of other nations - this had lead many nations and humans alike, to think he is an idiot (he's not).In truth, he knows all about their history - he is endlessly fascinated by archæology, and likes to point out that archæology is the forensics of history, making it less History's handmaid, and more History's fact checker.
But knowing that much about another country borders on creepy for many, and so he plays dumb, and if pinned down on it, he will admit that it is also because he thinks everyone has something in their past they aren't proud of, so this gives them a chance to present themselves as they wish to be seen. Of all the nations, Japan most understands what he's trying to do - in someways that explains his great loyalty to Alfred, for which Alfred is deeply grateful for even if he never knows when or how to thank the quiet Oriental nation for such support.

Two weeks had passed since Holler's attempted kidnapping/murder, and Marienne was still feeling some of the effects from it. Fitz and his superior officers were still investigating how far-reaching the man's misguided doctrine had been. Marienne found it impossible to concentrate on her work, and informed Francois and Fitz she would be going on a little getaway to the States, and pop in to see Alfred and hopefully his brother as well.
There was a gentle knock on his door, and Marienne stood there, hoping the man wasn't busy. It wasn't often she got to see the North Americans. And for the trouble of showing up relatively unannounced, she's brought a bottle of fine wine with her as a gift and apology.

The door opens suddenly and before she can get any words out of her mouth Alfred envelopes her in a giant bear hug.
"Marienne! It's so good to see you, why didn't you tell me you were coming, Mattie is gonna be so jealous, come in, come in!"

In typical Alfred fashion, his greeting consisted of nearly ripping the door off its hinges and giving her a spine-crushing hug. She's stammering in rapid French, surprised with the man's sudden actions. As soon as she's able to breathe again, she switches back to English. "Mon dieu, Alfred. Is that any way to greet a lady?" She's smiling, offering up the wine. "Here, I brought this over. I hope it's to your taste." It was an expensive label, but well worth the money spent considering the recipient. "How is Matthieu? I take it he's not here?" She really shouldn't be surprised, considering the distance, but she'd really hoped she'd be able to see both of them in the same place at the same time.

"Not yet, but he can be down in a couple hours as soon as I give him a call. You want me to fire up the bbq and have a party waiting for him when he arrives?"
Alfred grinned that dopey grin of his knowing both Matthew and she would enjoy a cookout.

"Let's call him tomorrow, okay? Maybe we can surprise him, too. Don't tell him I'm here when you call." Why not have a little fun at the man's expense? It was innocent enough. "By the way, Francois sends his greetings. We don't come over to see you often enough, so I imagine he'll be bothering you to spend a week in Paris one of these days."

“Alfred, can I have a word with you please?” He tapped the man on the shoulder before he could be whisked away by someone else.

"Yeah? What can I help you with, Alistair?" The American grins at his Scottish friend.

He motions for Alfred to have a seat, and sits down in a nearby chair. "Lately I've been running into one of your citizens, a historian of sorts named Sair. I'm sure you've met the lass before, she's mentioned you by name." He frowns a little. There wasn't exactly a lot Alfred could do but perhaps a bit of advice would help. "She's been pushing her boundaries when it comes to information on representatives. She found out about Arthur in a very sneaky manor, taking me for a fool. Aye, it had a bit to do with pride but I protect my family. Am worried, Alfred. I don't trust her. She shouldn't have this information to begin with." He's very concerned about his family in the midst of all this. And considering she's American, he's seeking out Alfred's help in the matter.

Alfred gives him a puzzled look for a moment, then snaps his fingers.
"Sair, as in Corsair Boston? Naw she's harmless. She's much more interested in cryptids than she is us. She was with the university team that visited me about Fearsome Critter stories and revolutionary era creatures. If she asks you history questions it's because she's trying to better understand the environment that gives rise to the stories of the day. She won't betray you. She knows how important our privacy is. She also knows if she did betray it she'd be facing some pretty punative actions once I caught up with her."
He explains.

"Aye, cryptids, like that catfish she lugs around. Maybe I ought to introduce the thing to Fettig. She'll have him for dinner." He schemes for a moment, and returns his attention to Alfred. "Oh she'll be in trouble with more than just old cheeto-face if she lets anything slip. I just don't trust her. She's playing games to get information out of people and am no a fan of it. Do me a favor at least and give her a stern talking to, aye? I've already warned her but she doesn't listen very well to me." Naturally, since they don't get along. But that was beside the point.

"She showed you Dustie? Dude, she gave you blackmail material in just that. I'll talk to her if we cross paths again, but seriously, you're worrying for no reason." He shrugs. "And don't try to feed that fish to anyone, you'll be surprised what sort of defenses dustfish have."

He lets out a sigh. "A'ight, then. I'll tell Erinn and Dafydd just to keep their mouths shut if she pops up on their doorstep." He offers out a hand. "Thanks, mate. Give your brother my regards. I haven't had much chance to fly over and see him as of late. Arthur's been keeping me working like a dog with this whole Brexit mess." That was another topic for another time, though.

"I will. And thank you on Mattie's behalf." They shake. "I'm sorry Arthur is giving you so much trouble. Seems like the will of the people is being abrogated, that's a headache for everyone."

Daniel cleaned his clothes off dust. “The air is sooo dusty” he murmured, and once he looked up, he froze. Not sure if he’s scared or surprised. “What.. all of those?” He said, looking at all the big buildings, in center of manhattan. “Wait, where am I? What is it?”
