Three things....
One: your work is amazing!!!1!!!21
Two: how do you get BEETLE SHELL on jewelry?
Three: Would you be willing to make more cloak clasps? *eyebrow wiggle*

Beetle shell isn't hard to put into a jewelry piece. Glue doesn't stick to it (seriously, no glue I have ever tried; not epoxy, not urethane, nothing), but all you have to do is mechanically set it somehow.
I can't do any more cloak clasps at the present for the same reason that I haven't done anything else here recently- too busy with the wife's costume business.

Scarab, i have a question about moulding the metal... Especially tin. I've made a dolphin form in a stone... And what is better : to flood it with a melted metal, or put some pieces of tin on the form, and then melt them with the burner...?

LaughingScarab In reply to Gajko [2010-07-25 13:30:04 +0000 UTC]
It would probably be best to pre-melt the metal, although if it is a one-sided mold with an open back you could probably get away with melting the tin chunks right in it.

You are a wonderful artist, a brilliant creator. It's a pity that you have no time for your own personal work, but none the less your current gallery speaks of your skill. I hope in future you'll once again fill this gallery with your wonderful works.

Yep indeed we did, & tasty it was. As pumpkin bread aficionados we commend your perfect balance of sweetness and texture and also recommend more nutmeg.

Are you selling your beetle earrings here in Austin? I saw some girls wearing beetle jewelry the other day!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LaughingScarab In reply to friendbeast [2008-07-12 13:55:18 +0000 UTC]
Very cool, maybe it's coming into style here in the states. I may have sold something to someone in Austin at some point although I'm hardly the only jeweler out there who uses jewel beetle shells. They've been used as a form of beads in southeast Asia for centuries- those girls probably got their jewelry from an import shop (unless they were wearing something with beetle shell inlay... as far as I know, I'm the only one ever to do that).

And about one of your elemental rings... when you say "up for grabs", do you mean you will be selling it?!
I'd really like the right of Light if it's not taken.
