# About me

I breathe photography. Even when I don't have a camera in my hand, it's always on my mind and I am always seeing potential photographs. I had been interested in photography since I was a little girl, but didn't pick it up until the spring of 2007. I consider myself a progressive hobbyist and my technique tends to be what I'd describe as mechanical.

I graduated college with a B.A. English - Writing and a B.A. in Political Science - International Relations. I took one photography class during that time that helped get me started with a good foundation. After learning the basics, I am pretty much self-taught. Aside from photography, I am interested in dog training with a focus in herding and some dabbling in agility. Competing in trials with the dog provides me an opportunity to travel and see a lot of new places.

Thanks so much. I started photography about 3 years ago and learned to get away from auto settings. I got my first DSLR a little over a year ago and am now quite confident with all manual settings. I learnt a great deal from a web page called "Digital Photography School" (from Melbourne Australia). I pretty much learnt everything from this webpage ...

It's amazing what you can learn online about photography. I took one very basic class in university and have pretty much self-taught myself the rest...which is probably why I feel like I am moving quite slow in building skills since I've been doing this over 8 years now. I learn a lot just from looking at shots done by other photographers. I think once you're confident with the manual settings, it's all uphill from there...that's when you can really start playing around and learning on your own more. I do know one photographer that seems to have a lot of success with many different online classes and seminars and stuff...
