Thanks
oh man. Simple question, very long answer
I use a variety of different cameras. To see which camera I used for each image, the EXIF data for each photo can be found at the bottom of each page, in the right side column.
Most of my street photos were taken with the Sigma DP3 Merrill, Sigma DP1 Merrill, Sigma DP0 Quattro, Sony A6000, and Sony RX100 M4. Occasionally I'll borrow a camera from my relatives, a Sony A7RII, and a Nikon D810 - but I don't think I have any street photos with those. I feel pretty lucky to have access to so many different cameras and lenses.
The Sigma cameras have fixed prime lenses. The cameras themselves aren't the easiest to use, but I love the Foveon sensor and the lenses are very good. The DP3 is ~75mm f2.8, the DP1 is ~29mm f2.8, and the DP0 is ~19mm f4.
The RX100 has a fixed 24-70mm (f1.8 - f2.8) zoom lens. Amazing camera for it's size.
For my A6000 I use the 50mm f1.8, and also the 16mm pancake, sometimes with the Wide Angle adaptor to make the field of view even wider. The kit lens (the 16-50mm) is okay, but you wont be able to get the most out of the camera with it.
questions?

The A6000 is a very capable camera! Since I got mine I haven't really used anything else
I haven't tried any of Sigma's e mount lenses, no. Do they make a portrait lens for the A6000?
Oh - and speaking of lenses, you know you can get adaptor rings to use all sorts of old manual lenses yeah? I haven't used them with my A6000, but my uncle got some adaptors for his A7RII to use Olympus lenses, Sigma SA lenses, and even the old M42 mount. M42 mount is especially awesome, do a search on ebay to see what I mean. If you're looking for a lens to use for staged portraits, an old manual focus lens is an option you could consider

Yeah sigma is good. There is this one review in youtube, sigma performes better than sony lens. He compared 19mm sigma to 20mm sony. Sigma is sharper based on his review. Ill try to search on manual lenses. Thanks!

Ah, that's cool. Third party lenses beating Sony's own? Hah! You'd probably want the 60mm though, 19mm is rather wide for a portrait lens.

Yeah! That's my problem now. I cant decide if ill buy wide lens for my street first or 50 or 60mm for my portraits

foundsoundfunny In reply to Lensify [2016-06-02 09:11:13 +0000 UTC]
hahaΒ Well, only you can decide that.
I will say though, that you can still pull off a kind of street photography with a portrait lens. And if you're comfortable with your people skills, you can take street portraits
...and you'll still have the kit lens! It's better to use the equipment you have now, to get practice, than it is to wait and wait until you have the 'best' gear.
