I first heard the term "to flame someone" about a week ago when I started reading Rozen Maiden fanfic and still can't for the likes of me understand why people do it.
It's like, if you don't like what you're looking at or reading... Go find something else to look at! Why spend that energy on telling someone they're unoriginal and such when they're probably not all that themselves.

Anyway, I got told this week, when irritated by someone in my class group, to be fascinated, not irritated, by the behaviour. It's probably a case of their own insecurity.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think life is way too short for that stuff. I prefer to just let everything go with the flow. This person was going on about how if anyone uses a dollmaker it's not art and if anyone creates meme's they're not art and fanfiction isn't art. I was just thinking to myself "Geez, I don't think Twilight is good literature but I don't go and harass everyone the created Twilight fanart about how crap I think Twilight is." So yeah I got into this thing where I felt I had to prove the point. This person still hasn't conceded the point yet. Then again, I don't care too much anymore. It upset me at the time because I was like "Really? Don't you have better things to do?" and I have issues drawing. My lines don't come out right because I'm blind in one eye so my hand eye coordination is very undeveloped. (nods)

Sorry for the late reply! I went to a comic convention and was just on Facebook and not DA for the whole week because I had new friends to chat to. But you only use one eye? I'm the same. I was born with 12.5% sight in one eye and blind in the other.
It doesn't really matter about disability when what you do comes from what you love. I'm a musician and a writer more than an artist. But I wouldn't have thought you were any different from anyone else here, had you not told me

I did it last and the year before but last year turned me off art altogether. I only do it now if I want to tell a story (have you seen my stick person comics?). Miss Jennings said I wasn't really up to the standard they needed this year for drawing form so I shouldn't do it but she would keep a spot open for me for next year in photography

There's quite a few Mika fans who'd like to see them so I might start making them in paint. They take the piss out of Mika (in the nicest way possible!) and make him look really childish. I also do ones featuring people from school. (Think a certain badly placed soprano "Singer" and a certain ex crush of mine beginning with M and rhyming with barco). They're more about the humour than the drawing talent but lots of fun to make and read (ask Nat).

Yeah she's my photography teacher. Photography doesn't require a terribly large amount of drawing, just concept sketches which obviously don't rely on drawing ability. As long as you have something coherent, haha!

She's a good teacher. I didn't have her last year but I took her advice more than my teacher anyway. I do art history this year and we do a bit of practical art so I still ask her for guidence. I'm relatively good at drawing but, as you could guess, my understanding of images in general isn't so briliant because - as I've newly realised - Life to me from afar is like an impressionist's painting for you, up close (does that make sense? I mean I see the big picture but small details are blurred (but not blury, I just can see the colour and basic shape but never any main idea).
