Hey, sorry I haven't been on so long. What's going on? Is it too late for that private matter you wanted to discuss?

No, no, it's fine. It's good to talk with you again too. I've been thinking over what you said for the last coupe days. I can't say I'm not disappointed. I get wanting to get more in touch with your heritage, and I really appreciate all the help you've been with Japanese culture. I really wish you had come clean a long time ago, but I can't really stay mad. Thanks for telling me man.

You're welcome, and thank you for understanding. It look a long time to decide that I wanted to tell the truth.
Now, the big reason why I started telling telling the truth is that I've begun a writing career and got my first published story out late last year. We helped each other out with editing and it meant a lot to me, and I was wondering if you had any success in getting published too.
Would you mind exchanging emails? If interested I'll send you mine through the private messages.

That's awesome! Congratulations! What's it called? I'd love to read it.
Honestly, I haven't had a lot of drive to write until this last month or so, though I do have a short story that might be close to publishable. Would you mind taking a look at it?
On the other hand, I did get married this spring. ^_^
And no, I wouldn't mind at all.

Sure, I can look at it.
I'll send a note for the rest.

Not bad. Saw Akira for the first time last night. Can't believe I waited so long to see that. Got a few ideas for Margareta as well.
Heh, but do any of the Fairy Tail ladies really need it? Is it good?

I suppose note, but some perverts love the idea of already big girls getting bigger. I loved it, but some of them reach sizes that might not appeal to you. The same author has done a more subtle and sweet story about Levy wanting to be about as busty as Elsa or Lucy though.
That's good about Margareta. I haven't seen Akira myself.

I might play Skyrim sometime. How do you like to play it? Which races and factions do you favor?

Lord0Slayer In reply to Sghytm90 [2012-12-08 23:15:18 +0000 UTC]
I usually play melee focused characters with reliance on Shouts for support. Usually Redguard or Nord. I like to make up back stories for my characters and roleplay it. Right now I'm trying something a little different, playing a Dark Elf assassin/necromancer studying the Daedra, so I'll be trying to collect all of the Daedric artifcats along with doing the Dark Brotherhood questline.
I really like all of the playable factions, with Companions and Dark Brotherhood as my favorites. The Companions because of how closely connected their guild is with the game's lore, while the Dark Brotherhood (as always) has the most interesting characters. Thieve's Guild is fun, but I was disappointed by the lack of the Gray Fox from Oblivion and that you HAVE to take the quest where you are invited to join to advance through the main quest, even if it doesn't go with your character (though of course that's only a problem if you want to roleplay). Same thing with the College of Winterhold, and because I thought it left a lot of questions unanswered at the end of its quest line. Of the Civil War factions, I tend to be pragmatic and go with the Empire, since a stable Empire is better suited to fight the Thalmor- who I REALLY want to be able to fight in the upcoming Dragonborn expansion.

Thank you for the opinions. I didn't know about any factions beyond the civil war material I had read about earlier, so this has been enlightening. Younger Brother favors the Empire too.
I try to role-play like that too with games like these.

Yeah, that's why I haven't responded to your PM's yet, or finished Christmas in Rêvîm yet, since I want to make a proper critique. Sorry about that. I should have time tomorrow once I get past this last deadline.

Oh, I just wanted to make sure you were all right. I can wait on any reviews. I'm having fun working on the second chapter anyway, so maybe you can wait for that.
I started reading The Sword of Shannara and The Lord of the Rings for inspiration on Rêvîm. Playing Diablo III (almost finished) helps too.

Cool. Sword of Shannara's really good, though I haven't read any of the other books yet. I'm not too crazy about the ending, but I like the way the setting of Shannara is connected with our world.

All right then. That sounds pretty good. Only the first two books were translated into Japanese, so it seems like it never really caught on (a different series by Brooks was translated in full though).
Both this and The Lord of the Rings have people providing exposition at great length. It makes me feel less bad about doing some similar scenes.

Lord0Slayer In reply to Sghytm90 [2012-12-09 02:38:12 +0000 UTC]
True, but you can get away with breaking any rule of writing given a sufficiently skilled writer. I've been told most of Ernest Hemingway's stuff doesn't have any real plot and he's still considered one of the U.S.'s greatest writers.
For expostion I'd say it's all about presentation. If you can present it in a way that holds a reader's attention without detracting from whatever's going on then it's alright. Like in LotR, most of the exposition shows up when there's nothing going on (like Aragorn telling stories in-between the journey from Bree to Weathertop), or to emphasize a point, like how the Council of Elrond is almost nothing but exposition to explain why getting rid of the ring is so important and why they just can't hide it somewhere.
In Night School when you explained the history of the Masquerade, that was an acceptable context for exposition.

So that one shot story you mentioned before. Is that the one you were asking me for ideas about?

Sghytm90 In reply to Lord0Slayer [2012-04-12 05:35:55 +0000 UTC]
No. Related to it, but not the same thing. I won't write that longer idea unless FictionPress cleans up its problems. This short story shouldn't provide too many problems as long as I avoid line breaks.

I could, but it is easiest when I post on FictionPress/FanFiction first, then copy it here. Posting a story here first requires a little extra effort separating all the paragraphs.
