# About me

This website is intended to showcase the photos I take of the graves of old-time ballplayers who played at one time in the old midwestern minor league known as the American Association (1902-1952). I try to bracket each grave in order to give the viewer a chance to experience the grave setting as I have experienced it, using a variety of angles and perspectives to enhance the view and provide a good sense of the specific locale of each grave.

I publish a baseball history journal three times a year called the American Association Almanac. I promote this endeavor through my principal website, under construction, at www.almanacfield.com.

The focus of the journal is to promote the old American Association, a league which was central to the lives of our parents and grandparents in the midwest from 1902-52. It describes events which defined the long-defunct league. The league was composed of the same eight teams for 51 years: the Columbus Senators (which became the Red Birds in 1931), Indianapolis Indians, Louisville Colonels, Kansas City Blues, Milwaukee Brewers, Minneapolis Millers, St. Paul Saints and Toledo Mud Hens. Many of the photos featured on this site reflect my interest in grave hunting which emphasizes baseball history as it relates to players who once performed in the old American Association. My wife and I seek out cemeteries containing the remains of former American Association ballplayers, such as Hugh Hill. You can read more about my publication and learn more about American Association history on either my website or either of my two blogsites:

www.theoldaa.wordpress.com

I hope you'll take a moment to have a gander at my art as it relates to the written word. The American Association Almanac is a central focus of my life.
