That's okay - it was no trouble.
Really though, I think the best way to learn it is through actually trying it. Take one photo at f/2.8, then another of the exact same scene at f/22, or whatever your minimum aperture is. You'll see the difference it makes pretty quickly!

At the moment, I'm using:
Canon 50mm f/1.8 & 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 EF-S
Tamron 28-75 f/2.8
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8
all with the 30D, but up until six months ago I was using the 300D, much like yourself...
There's a few shots in the gallery that'd be with the kit lens 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, 100mm Vivitar macro or the Sigmas 18-125mm f/3.5-5.6 & 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 APO, though they're not used very often anymore, or at all for the two 18- lenses.
And I'm with you all the way on the procrastination.
Revision? Pfft...it can wait!
