My work is mostly academic in terms of learning.

I have learned how to use the tools to render, I have learned how to structure forms and imply lighting but I still need to work on my lines, I am always using a chicken scratch.

I need to work on my perspective, I still create wonky images that are due to my seating position.

My work suffers from a lack of measurement, but I am working on getting rid of that problem.

I also haven't mastered the knack of mimicking of values.

I am working on it.

(im not actually an artist) so to me it just looks amazing. I just draw for fun.

MARX-MAN In reply to shiny9tails [2013-05-15 05:53:23 +0000 UTC]

Maybe, but as a rendering it is not up to the kind of standard I want to achieve.

I want to get to a point when a person says, that looks like a photograph, it is a high standard but it is attainable with practice.

hi there~
is my sister. and i kinda wanted to say thank you. ya see, after you and her kinda talked about who was a better artist or what ever(i can't quite remember exactly what happened....) she kept practicing and now she is a ton better.
so yeah...thanks~

You mean when I referred to the cat she draw as mangled.

I was trying to flag the lack of proportion, albeit in a little blunt fashion.

Only a few things need to be respected in order to make a good drawing.

- Lighting
- Colour
- Proportion
- Perspective

A lot of things fall into place with those fundamentals.

Still writing your own dictionary I see.

Trolling means posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an on-line community and not making informed posts that address the issues raised in the forum.

Oh you and your personal dictionary.

First enlightenment and now trolling. :-P

"Still writing your own dictionary I see."

I see no problem with expanding/defining terms to enrich a discussion, so long as you make others in the discussion aware of the definitions you are using.

"Trolling means posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an on-line community and not making informed posts that address the issues raised in the forum."

In other words, exactly what you were doing?

MARX-MAN In reply to JooPe [2012-10-22 01:39:36 +0000 UTC]

Such trolling posts as.
The dictionary definition of enlightenment, quotes from three well known philosophers regarding the topic of enlightenment and quoting you good self.

It's not that I am trolling you, it is that you have a misapprehension of what enlightenment is.

We both know that it is due to the term you are using being self defined and is synonymous with the process of learning and retention for you.
As explained in greater detail in Trey Campbell's essay "Those not willing to learn, are harder to teach ".

A person doesn't have to be willing to learn in order to teach them a lesson. The classic is a child putting his hand in the fire after ignoring their parents about it being hot. They soon learn how hot it is even if they are unwilling to listen to what the parent has said or even admit that they did learn but the scar is there as a reminder.

"The dictionary definition of enlightenment, quotes from three well known philosophers regarding the topic of enlightenment and quoting you good self."

Again I had already established I was not using a dictionary definition of 'enlightenment' (which is incredibly vague to begin with), you also have yet to establish a context which shows the philosophers were using the dictionary definition of enlightenment. Even then it is still irrelevant because their definition was different to the operative definition in the discussion, you failed abysmally at answering any of my criticisms.

"It's not that I am trolling you, it is that you have a misapprehension of what enlightenment is."

Says the guy who misdefined 'enlightenment' as 'inspiration', and only occuring completely by 'accident' without any influence by the one experiencing it.

"We both know that it is due to the term you are using being self defined and is synonymous with the process of learning and retention for you."

We both know you are an idiot who attempts to mask his intellectual incompetence by 'failing' to hit the reply button. Also you will have to restructure that sentence into something coherent if you want a proper response.

"As explained in greater detail in Trey Campbell's essay "Those not willing to learn, are harder to teach"."

A problem with this article is that it does not show whether the caller meant the course itself was a scam or if buying wholesale and selling direct is a scam because it is effectively making yourself a middleman who adds to the cost of a product without providing much if any service, unless you consider 'salesmanship' a service.

"A person doesn't have to be willing to learn in order to teach them a lesson. The classic is a child putting his hand in the fire after ignoring their parents about it being hot. They soon learn how hot it is even if they are unwilling to listen to what the parent has said or even admit that they did learn but the scar is there as a reminder."

Sigh. the difference is, I obviously was not talking about a single instance of learning, and your argument still only applies to certain lessons in which sensory stimulation can over-ride cognitive dissonance, doesn't it genius?

MARX-MAN In reply to JooPe [2012-10-22 07:13:41 +0000 UTC]

You seem to be under the impression that learning is voluntary.

Why do you think that learning is a voluntary process?

Paying attention is voluntary but the actual act of learning isn't.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JooPe In reply to MARX-MAN [2012-10-23 00:22:41 +0000 UTC]

Beyond a certain point, learning is voluntary. Or perhaps more accurately, learning is to some degree involuntary but acknowledging what is learned to oneself and to others is not. If learning is entirely involuntary, why are there still so many who believe in a genocidal sky-wizard and a talking snake? Obviously we have some power to influence our own learning and development/learning, such as choosing to actively seek out and process information, or choosing to simply block it out (denial).
