is there any way to save the settings on a brush?
My teacher didn't know how....he could only draw it and save it that way...

Actually yas. After you've made all the settings in the brush menu, go over to the Brush Preset Picker (the one that appears in the top left) and select the option 'New Brush Preset'.
Then just name it and save.

you wouldn't believe it if you saw it. but i was fighting a green plesiloth and to try and get it out of the water i threw a stone at. hough and behold it kills it. mission over its corps floats to the surface of the river and i can only stare in disbelief and anger as i can't jump in and carve it.
