If you don't want to, that's completely fine.

I am very unhappy that you took advatage of my daughter. You charged her 25.00 for a drawing that was shipped in a envelope that may have been padded but when she opened it it was rinkled. Also she draws better than that and even on card stock, not on copy paper. You should rethink how you take advatage of people.

Leader1138 In reply to TeeMich [2009-11-21 20:00:17 +0000 UTC]
She shipped it for free, what do you want? That and I donβt know how you could say your daughter draws better, they both draw in the simple style that is currently popular among animation production companies in Japan for its simplicity and thus cost effectiveness. Plus your daughter apparently draws on cardstock so you probably shouldnβt be going around touting her abilities unless, of course, you actually have no idea what youβre talking about.
I guess you also think that your daughter is a complete idiot as she spent 25 dollars on the drawing. I mean, seriously, what was she thinking? I would have thought that you could have taught her the importance of thriftiness but apparently you, while believing your child to be utterly incompetent and without taste, allow her to go to large gatherings of strangers where she is taken advantage of by teenaged hooligans. Of course, all of this is inconsequential as the price for the drawing is the standard for such a simple piece of work at these anime conventions. Your daughter knew this and purchased the item in question under completely legitimate circumstances.
I understand that you are probably not the type of person who buys original artwork so I will explain some things to you. While the actual cost of producing a piece could be nil, the finished product, being a painting, design, sculpture etc. is valued at a much higher price for various, often superficial, reasons. That is why an illustration on printer paper cost $25. How much do you think an artist spends on supplies for a $15,000 painting? Do you believe that the monetary value assigned to a piece of art has anything to do with the cost of producing it?
Slander is a serious matter, madam, especially when it occurs on the interweb. Youβre lucky that you, a fifty year old woman, are only accosting a 19 year old girl who cannot afford a lawyer. Good day!

One last thing: After looking more thoroughly through your daughter's work I can say with a fair amount of certainty that she does not draw better than Maid-Kyli.

it is very uncommon for a person to actually draw on card stock, since it is a very slippery and smudgy surface. people print on it because it is easy to print on. of course if you would rather have your daughter have something on card stock, then be glad to know that instead of purchasing a one of a kind picture, she got some watered down, mass produced junk. ma'am, if you don't know the business, i suggest you don't comment about it.

Come on lady, grow up. Don't you know better than to publicly oust someone, when you could respectfully send private e-mails and maybe be taken seriously?
You should support your daughter a little more--maybe actually GO to a convention with her every once in a while. If you took a look around the artist alley, you would see my art is in no way drastically more expensive than anyone else's. My prices were right up front, all the information right there. Your daughter chose to purchase the commission--I did not take advantage of her in any way.
My choice of paper is my own. I don't draw on cardstock any more than I would draw on cardboard, or a sheet of styrofoam. All my examples are on printer paper--your daughter knew exactly what she was getting.
I charge everyone at a convention $25 for an inked illustration. You daughter chose to have it shipped to her, which I did FREE of charge.
So, in short, either hold her hand, follow her around at cons, and choose how she spends her every penny, or shut up and let her make her own choices.

Joshua is MY boyfriend's name!! xD So I like you already
Well, for payment, you can do this thing called a "money order". You go to your local post office, and ask for a money order. You give them the amount (say, $25 + like $1.50 for money order charge) and they give you a slip that' like a check. You can then mail it to me, and I can take it to my bank. It's a lot safer than just sending cash in the mail. However, if you want to, I'll accept cash folded inside a piece of paper in an envelope, mailed to me. If you still want a commission, I can note you my address :3
The drawing sounds SUPER CUTE I would love to draw you guys >w<
I have commission prices in my most recent journal entry. Line art is $25, colored is $35, plus like, $3 shipping. Tell me what you think :3

the money order thing sounds perfect :'D
Is it going to work forrrr currency exchange?
Cause i totally live in canada.
I'm thinking coloured btw.

Maid-Kyli In reply to AlternativeSin [2009-06-21 02:12:38 +0000 UTC]
Woot, Canada <3 Mmm, Canadian Bacon *0*
You can get a Money Order in US dollars. Just make sure you ask for (if colored+shipping) $38 US dollars, and they should be able to give you the exchange rate right there. You pay them the Canadian, and they print off the USA :3 It's easy, they're on top of it >w<
If you are sure you want a commission, just reply or note me, and I will give you my address. Once I get the money, I will send you your art, but not before. Sound good? I can also scan the line art and show you a preview, to make sure you're happy with it before I color and send it :3

I just wanted to let you know that I think you are rude and selfish, and I hate you because you never comment on my beautiful artwork.
You have no life and you should spend all your time on here telling me how wonderful I am and responding to my journals that are about nothing important.
Especially when you are my best model.
I will fire you.

I don't mean to be rude, but I KNOW you've been on lately enough to have been able to reply to my comments. But you haven't. Here I am, being as polite as I can and everything, and you don't reply to my comments. I feel that is very rude of you. I can see you don't get that many journal comments. I comment on your journals and nothing. I commented on your page and nothing. That saddens me. Please at least have the courtesy to manage a "hi" when I greet you, a "thank you" when I compliment, a simple reply to my messages. Otherwise, I see no reason for watching you.
π: 0 β©: 1
Maid-Kyli In reply to Ladoncyan [2008-11-20 19:58:51 +0000 UTC]
I'm honestly really sorry. I'm really glad you like my art and are watching me, and I never meant to be offensive! I generally only respond to the people who ask questions, or know me in real life because it's easier. Sometimes I go through my messages too fast and skip over some, especially since I watch enough people that my inbox is often full.
In my defense, I do not think it is 100% needed to say "thank you" after every single compliment and respond to every comment. I did not know that sort of thing was expected. Just because I do not get a lot of comments on my journals and things does not mean I have a vacant life, you know? ^_^ I am busy with other things too, and I had no idea this was so important to you, because it wouldn't be to me. But hey, you're right, I should try harder, and thanks for pointing it out before it got really bad. I'll be sure to make a better effort to respond to everyone and spread the love around :3 I hope you still watch me, and can accept my appology! <3
π: 0 β©: 1
Ladoncyan In reply to Maid-Kyli [2008-11-20 23:36:23 +0000 UTC]
Thank you.
The thing is, I feel that if someone takes the time to say something to you, they at least deserve something in return, at least on journals. If you get a lot of deviation comments, I can understand if you'd delete the like nine out of ten who just say "cool." or something like that.
Oh, by the way, I did meet you in real life.
