Haha, you're wellcome I was once modding a game called "jagged alliance" addning new weapon layouts not sure if you remember that game not as old as doom but still really really really old.
Anyhow these cool sprites make me feel nostalgic, some pretty cool artwork.

Heh, thanks. Just got into making sprites. I'll probably be making more, since atm, they are the only thing I can really do

Thanks for the fave. Any comments on the model? I'm trying to get feedback, because I'm running out of ideas.
Hmm, looking at your work, what program do you use? It looks a lot like the results I might get from Sketchup, but there's less of a papery feel to it.

I am using sketchup BUT i model them in Pro-Engineer
(i'm a engineer) first before I import them into sketchup.
I actually find it hard to draw "accurately" with sketchup.
This is what i've got so far..

Huh. Never thought of using Sketchup as a rendering engine. It doesn't actually have one. It pretty much takes a picture of what you've got. If you're interested in rendering with light sources and all of that stuff, I recommend Blender instead. I use it, it's freeware, and not too hard to pick up, if you just sit down and decide to figure it out. I just really prefer Sketchups drawing system.

Sketchup does some really really basic real-time ray tracing when you enable shadows and set up daylight stuff.
But basically, you're right though you could use one of the rendering plugins with ray tracing. (unfortunately they are not freeware)
I've been trying some trial versions one called "V-Ray" is really nice to and can easily render stuff close-to realistic(and it renders really fast 30 minutes for a complex 8400x6200 picture) but it's really got some texture issues because it doesn't seem to take over all of the sketchup texture modifications while with "Podium" you get to keep the sketchup textures but doesn't seem to have as much options as Vray ... google these 2 plugins up if you want to use sketchup.

I've tried a couple of these plugins, and it's never really seemed worth it to me. I'd have to learn a whole new set of controls, and spend a fair amount of money. In exchange, I save two to three minutes off exporting to Blender. I just don't think that trade-off is worth it. Don't fix it if it ain't broke. And at the current moment, my standard system is working fine.
What I was really asking for was any advice on things to add to the mesh. I'm running low on ideas, and I'm mostly just greebling now.
