Mami Tomoe (巴マミ Tomoe Mami) is a more experienced Puella Magi who acts as a sort of guide to the world of magical girls to Madoka and Sayaka for the first partPuella Magi Mami Tomoe.

Of the series, and offers to act as their mentor if they accept Kyuubey's contract and become Puella Magi themselves. She was the primary Puella Magi hunting Witches in the Mitakihara area right up until her death at which point Sayaka and Kyoko take over. Mami dies when she is eaten while fighting a Witch named Charlotte who is then defeated by Homura (who had been previously tied up by Mami).

Mami seems to act like a big sister or motherly figure to Madoka and Sayaka. She has a caring and kind personality that doesn't really fit with the many guns she wields in her Puella Magi form.

It is revealed in some sort of magazine that Mamis puella magi wish had something to do with "To connect to life." Thusly, Mamis ribbon like powers that are exampled in episode 2 and 3.
