Happy Holidays to you mate! Question of you... I'm looking for a "Panoramic lense" for my camera and am woefully ignorant about many features and standards associated with said same. I like Tamron lenses. any suggestions on who's and wheres? I have a 2DVD set on how to operate my DSLR which I'm about to view for the 3rd time. Trouble having a camera smarter than I yam! Best out! Mark

Personally I only buy Canon. They've always had a great reputation with their glass (but of course you pay more for that reputation and quality too). I don't really know much about other brands. What you're looking for is something that goes down to 10-15mm. It may have some distortion/bending, remember, because of the curvature of the glass itself. Are you wanting that effect? If not, you may just go with a standard mid-range zoom lens and learn to physically pan the camera and take multiple shots. It may not be very noticeable though, depends on the lens. If it says fisheye in the lens then you will definitely have that distortion. You will also have to consider the crop factor of your image sensor. If you don't have what's called a "full frame censor" then you wont get as wide of a shot as the lens is capable of producing (and what it says in the numbers). Any measurement (16-35mm for example) is based on a full censor (meaning the censor is the same size as a 35mm film picture... which is 35mm) Many digital SLR's have censors that are smaller than 35mm (or the size of a single photo on a negative) so the image that comes in from the lens is bigger than the censor so you dont get it all the way to the edges.... We could go on and on, on this subject. Hope that helps.

Hey Mike,

Your photos are great bro. Got my new camera and have been out roaming the county finding things to shoot. If you ever get a wild hair and want to head to North County for some areas to check out; like the top of Mt. Palomar; would be glad to grab the equipment and head up there with yeah. I seem to be best at landscapes myself; love those sunsets. Best wishes bro; guess we have a few mutual buds on facebook too.
