Hello! I am thinking about starting in heraldry and I wanted to know which way was best to draw the lineart? I've seen a lot of stuff online that is vector but how would you do it?

There is no substitute for paper, a pencil and images from books or other sources which you can use as examples. Initially you'll start out copying other artist's work that you like, but you will eventually start developing your own style by combining bits from one and adding bits from another and even thinking up new bits of your own. Heraldry, like every other art form is a living, evolving being and doesn't need to be stuck in the Middle Ages from where it originated. There are some excellent books out there if you want to learn about the theory of heraldry as well as the art; I would certainly recommend 'Basic Heraldry' by Stephen Friar and John Ferguson (ISBN: 1-871569-53-2) as a starter and 'Boutell's Heraldry' by C.W. Scott-Giles and J.P. Brooke-Little (available at Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_n... or 'A Complete guide to Heraldry' by A.C. Fox-Davies (ISBN 10: 1-60239-001-0 or ISBN 13: 978-1-60239-001-0)
'The Art of Heraldry' by Carl-Alexander von Volborth (ISBN: 1-85501-154-9) has some excellent illustrations from all sorts of artists past and present for reference purposes. Once you master the art of drawing it yourself, you can scan it and use it digitally from there. Hope this has been helpful.

'Heraldic Design' by Heather Childs is an old book (published in 1965) but is very good if you're intending to start designing and can be bought from Amazon (second hand only I'm afraid). John Brooke-Little's 'An Heraldic Dictionary' (ISBN:0-86051-320-3) and Stephen Friar's 'A New Dictionary of Heraldry' (ISBN: 0-906670-44-6) are also very useful, and no heraldic library would be complete without Otto Neubecker's 'Heraldry: Sources Symbols and Meanings' (ISBN: 0-7481-0198-5). Other treasures can be found in many second hand bookshops that can still be found in towns and cities up and down the country...
