This is fascinating and, for someone trying to figure out color, highly instructive.

eh? the dolls you mean?
they're an interesting when it comes to getting flesh tones. if you want stunning realism in painting flesh tomes on these dolls i highly recommend taking a look at 3 of my favorite artist's work.

yes. The dolls - the way they look after you've painted them.
These references are amazing! Thank you so much for taking time to list them. Stunning realism is the right way to express it. I study it for what it contributes to my understanding of how to use color for digital painting - as I have studied a little about makeup. Girls definitely have an edge because of it. And I also picked up much from studying flower arrangement. So much I took for granted, now I have to open up my eyes and see them as if for the first time.

life of an artist....you always clear your slate and relearn things....that's how we get better.
i've worked as a makeup artist and hairstylist.....to be 100% honest, it helps with application of the colors, but not at all with what colors go where. the reason i say that is 2 folds, first most my doll are men and i only own one female. second, i aim for more natural looks rather than dramatic ones, so it's more about knowing where the blues and reds fall and less about perfection and ideals ...if that makes any sense at all. what i do find very helpful is people watching creepy but super helpful. i love interesting faces, i love glancing around and looking for really prominent features, like how someones face might be freckled for example. if people allow you to photograph them and you're the kind person whose willing to go out and do it, then that's great too. personally i'ma much more no nonsense, cut to the chase type of person.....if i want to learn about skin tones and flesh, i study real living skin and flesh...that's just me though O.o between life, school, work, and commissions, i have little time X___________X
one advice though if i may....people take blues and purples for granted...there's a fair bit of it in lighter skin tones, yet most hobbyists don't use it. experiment with it.

Thanks for edifying me.
It's funny you mention that bit about cut-to-the-chase. All day long i sit in my studio and practice or study reference. But at night when I look in the mirror to brush my teeth is when I find exactly what I was looking for - I see the color. Too late. Time for bed. Next morning, back to the studio and don't remember to study the mirror until just before bedtime. (Tonight I'm going to write a sticky note to remind myself and stick it on the monitor! )
Blues and purples. I'm guessing you mean high chroma applied in the finishing stage of the painting.

hmmm....i don't know if i would wait till the very end to add the subsurface colors. i begin with them. the way i see it, it's only natural that that the blues and purples go in the bottom most layer with touch ups as the layers build up, simply because they are sub surface colors. then again i've done some dissection and what not as well<.< it's an extreme i don't recommend at all! but when you take away the first layer of skin and see all the fat and arteries and veins just above the fascia (and if you haven't passed out or aren't in fetal position in a corner which i really wanted to do) it all makes more sense. taken away from the flesh underneath, the skin is surprisingly translucent and almost colorless...at least for lighter skin tones. if you've got the stomach for it, i'm sure there's lots of references in google images.
my best advice to see the 'true' colors of skin is to look at is under sunlight. if you are like me and have really see through skin on your wrists and thumb area, that will also give you an exaggerated version of over all skin tones. babies are also great for this sort of study. their faces tend to have really thin skin.
the other thing is, i'm purely a traditional artist and i think paint respond differently than digital color. my lack of experience in digital art is not going to help. i can only offer a different perspective. i haven't painted on canvas in a year now and with doll faceups, i've been working primarily with pastels which isn't as great at ink or paint. resin isn't the best thing to paint on :/

Makes sense. I have to stop thinking about color in a vacuum and make the connections to what it says about flesh. The expression "think before you ink" applies to painting more than it does to inking.
What you describe as laying in subsurface color sounds like the equivalent of the method of drawing called constructive anatomy (George Bridgman's terms). Basically paint from inside out. Have to start studying how it applies to color, since I never stopped to study that. In that regard one is usually concerned with structure, not color. Mamma-mia! So much to learn - so little time in which to learn it.

whats the rush? i have no academic training in art and that was a very conscious decision on my part...i need art to keep me sane and i keep it very separate from my academic life and my career. but if i may be arrogant enough to throw in a word here... putting pressure on yourself is going to make it very difficult to see things as they are. in looking for things you think you should be seeing, you lose sight of those spontaneous yet telling details. there will never be enough time to learn all the ins and outs of art, best take a breath and admire your subject matter and let that admiration speak for itself in your art. it's good to be aware of the rules of art, but what's art is it's restricted?
just a thought

Ha. Pretty good advice - not arrogant, when given with a grain of salt. because there is such a thing as impeding one's own progress by trying too hard - which hit me last night as I was working on "Ride 'Em Cowgirl", a timed piece that broke all records the wrong way! haha. I post it with artists' comments on the insight just before you zipped this off to me (according to the time stamp). The coincidence drives home the point for me.

Ooooh are you on a road trip or something?
Well since he is on layaway and I put him on 3 months he wont be shipped off until earliest 17th of september, thats pretty much all I know.
aaaak I cant believe it actually is on! And that I got him almost 100$ cheaper! And I followed your advice and picked the eeeeh... well the thighs that had more mobility. And I picked no face-up since Im gonna commish that, and then a normal skin tone. And model body and not superhero or whatever, I think the normal body has way to much muscles as it is. XD (Im not into muscles, I like lean guys hahahah). But to tell the truth Im a littl anxious too, cause Ive read so much about how I cant have him in light, and put him away all the time and aaaak. I wont dare touch him at all. XD

HEYYYYYYYYY!!!!! I IS BACK!!!
CONGRATS!!!!!!
don't be worried. just keep him out of direct sunlight. i keep 3 of mine in my studio. i have one large shelf for two of the boys and my girl perches above my work desk. the other two sleep in their boxes when i'm not doing a photo shoot but that's really just for lack of room more than anything. either way with age the resin colour will change but not so drastically that the doll will look ugly or anything. I purchased my Dollshe Saint from a Den of Angels memeber and she had stored him in a box from the day she bought him...even then the resin had turned pale. so really the best thing is to play with him as much as you want and enjoy him, put him where you can see him and admire him because irrespective of where you put him, resin will always fade as resin does. these dolls are a lot sturdier than you think. just be careful with any new clothes you put on him. i recommend making sure the clothes dont stain and if possible, washing the clothes before putting it on him to get out any excessive die.
the model body for Iplehouse is quite muscular as is... any more is a bit much so some doll owners have managed to pull it off very nicely with the superhero body as well.

if you're ordering from a good tailor he/she will likely be aware of the issues regarding resin staining and all. the best person to ask is your tailor.
the best way to wash bjd clothes if you're worried is to fill a container with water and some light detergent and just let the clothes simple rest in the liquid for a few hours, then take them out and wash them. but discuss these with whoever is making the clothes. their choice of fabrics and materials will be important.
since all my dolls clothes come from recycled fabrics of my own old clothes i'm not at all worried about staining since they've all been machine washed regularly in their lifespan. if in doubt go with very light colours like whites and beige, and if you're still worried you can dress them up only for photo shoots then take off the clothes and have them sit in white robes or body suits....but that really shouldn't be necessary. enjoy your doll in all it's glory. they're more resilient than you think...even though all this can be over whelming

HE JUST ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!! And FRICK he is so HUGE!!!! Hahahaha Seriously I knew he would be rather big but not THIS big!!! I simply couldnt imagen it! Okay now I dont think they price them that high anymore. Before I felt "This price is rather high for a doll but okay, they are awesome enough to be worth it still" plus I got that summer sale discount. But now I instead think "OMG the price is totally fair!!! MORE than fair!!!" When I got the box today I was even thinking "maan MUST they use such huge boxes all the time, couldnt they pick one that fit better, and then I opened it and found that the doll box inside was just fitting precisely, and once more I thought "seriously why so big boxes, and then I opened the doll box and saw the dolls actuall size and I seriously looked like this O____________O no kidding. XDDD AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT MORE!?!?!?! You know that you get random eyes for the dolls, and I have been thinking that I must buy new ones cause they wont give me the brown ones I want (my OC has brown). So guess my happiness when I picked up the eyes and saw they are brown!!!!! GUUUAAAH!!!!
Oh! And I have taken pictures as you wanted but they are in my phone atm and I dont have time to upload them, gotta continue checking this dude now! I just wanted to write you and tell that he arrived!!! <333

OMG CONGRATULATION I NEED PICTURESLDHFEOIHIURHUEUIBFJD!!!!AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
^__________^ YUP! and they still get bigger too. did you order an EID or SID...or is Chris YID O.o? if hes a YID then hes a good head shorter than the EID but yeah they're HUGE. owning one of these dolls is a privilege. they are expensive, very expensive, but you have to see them as hand made. it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking they're mass produced but most of these companies, as famous as they may be in the hobby are still little workshops with a handful of people at best working on dolls. if you ever try your hand at sculpting and casting a doll, you'll come to the conclusion that they actually dont make much money off of the dolls. production is expensive and chews up a fair bit.
oooooooh very nice!!! they must be glass eyes as well right? how large are the irises, that's what you really want to look for. it's a matter of taste but generally, the more proportionate the iris, the more realistic the doll's face will look and the brighter it'll look (specially when you photograph them)...i just started making my own eyes, they realistic eye prices are ridiculous! if you're interested though eyeco is the place to go for the best of the realistic eyes but with your talent, i'm sure you can make them yourself!
AHHHH i cant wait for you to have him up and ready!!!!! YOU'RE GOING TO ADORE HIM MORE EVERY DAY
***whispers, i need pictures!!!***

THAANK YOOOOOOOU!!!!!!!! Chase is a EID.
But as I said, I really DONT think they are expensive, not at all compared to the size. I think their price is more than fair for how big they are. But then I am used to seeing (and working with) art so I know what stuff cost. And that this HUGE of a doll only costed 600 something (at sale) is actually cheap in my eyes. XD Im not a rich person, Im on the poor side and had to fight like hell to save up but I still know the value of art so yeah, I do think the price for something this big and amazing and with movable joints and all is not much. I mean seriously, just think how long it must have taken to asemble him! O__o Price was totally worth it!
I have nooo idea if they are glass, how do I know that? XD And eeh... uum.... how do I answer how large the irises are? Hahahha I have no idea if anything with these dolls. And theres string and some friggin white goo I have no idea what it is. XD (no I havnt checked the pamplet I got yet. hahaha)
Thanks for thinking I can make eyes, I dunno if Id dare though. XD But maybe Ill try later! And super cool that you make your own!!
But he doesnt have any clothes. XD It simply doesnt feel quite right to put him up naked, especially not since he keep staring at me. Hahahahhaha
Yes pics, I shall give you pics! Im only gonna find the cord to my phone. Ive been obsessing over how well made and amazing this dude is and its hard to get away to do other things. Hahahah

are they round and heavy with a little stem at the end that could potentially cut you if you're not careful? it'll be pretty obvious. they'll feel like crystal beads with a bit of weight to them. the acrylic ones usually have a flat back (though i also have ball shaped ones) but are very clearly plastic.
here's a reference pic ic.pics.livejournal.com/pikaka…
that friggen white goo is what you use to stick the eyes in place i make them into donuts around the eye them work them in place.
the string is what your doll is held together with, in case you ever need to restring him cuz his strings got old and loose.
dont be silly, you're amazing at art! i think you'd make phenomenal stuff for your doll. i understand your timidness though...your first doll always intimidates you a bit dont worry though.so long as he's not in sunlight and hes not dropped, he should be pretty resilient. ooooh an EID! you got the big guys! i love the big guys myself and will never get any under 70cm
HHAHAH...see i have an issue with naked dolls too. i make them little underwear while they wait for clothes...or just wrap them in a toga
i can just imagine your excitement right now I can't wait to see what you do to with him!
let me know if you have any questions!!!!

So sorry for the late reply, things are so friggin hectic atm that I dont know wich foot to be standing on soon. X___x
Yes the eyes are glass! I guess thats what expected from such high quality dolls maybe?
And omg hahahahahah so friggin funny. Maaaan Im the master noob of BJDs. XDDDDD
Pfffffft, after seeing your lion headdresses I sure dont think Im timid, rather very crazy right about not being able to make good things for them. XD And yes, Im all "can I touch him? .... do I dare? No... yes... no... yes... *touch* Aaaaaak what if I break him!!!!!! " XDDD
I indeed got a big guy, I dont even know were to put him, he is to big to fit in my small bedroom/workroom. I only have one single room with ALL my belongings in and lets just say its crowded like all hell. Hahahahahah But I do like him being big, only I think I must rent a room for him somewhere. XD
Hahahaha thats hillarious! Im so happy to know Im not the only "wierd" person around. I dont like real men naked and not dolls either. XD Plus its embarassing for the poor guy/doll. Maybe he dont think so... but who knows! XP

MaryamDN In reply to Escaron [2015-10-07 03:32:07 +0000 UTC]
^.^ honestly, i didn't discover i could make headdresses until i got my first doll. they inspire you in such unexpected ways. even my life size lions and wolves came about because i started making little BJD size ones. people just saw them and asked for big ones...so i made big ones P and now they're the majority of my sales! funny how things happen
X____________X dear god!! i agree..men (and woman) need to keep themselves covered around me...at least the bare minimal....my men keep their *aheem* assets covered...i can't have them around any other way. currently i have no women in the house...but when she arrives she will also have to be at the very least minimally covered i dont know if that makes us old fashioned or something...but it is what it is!
yeah you would generally expect to get glass eyes when you pay so much for a doll. only one company has ever sent me acrylic eyes with my order (but they were also nice ones). usually the company will give you eyes with large irises though, which to me is the downside.
hah! i don't believe you for a second when you say you wont be able to make anything for your dolls! i've seen the way you sculpt you crazy woman
either way if you're ever interested in an art trade, let me know
my studio is very very tiny as well, it's 1.5 meters wide and 3 meters long and i also live in a single bedroom. it's not the size of your work environment that matters though, it's the size of your imagination and yours is HUGE.
WOMAN WHAT HAPPENED TO PICTURES!!!!!! I"M DYING HERE!!!

Escaron In reply to MaryamDN [2015-10-07 21:46:30 +0000 UTC]
I see! Thats really cool! Maybe I will get some inspiration about it latet as well. Right now Im still in the "almost dont dare touch" stage. XD But maaaaaan is he heavy as a small horse or what!? I can barely articulate him cause he just flail around with his limbs all over me. Hahahahah I think he might not like me that much yet cause he sure put up some dead weight resistance. XD And I tried to get his eyes in btw and failed misserably... -_____- I can sculpt but I cant get a pair of eyes into the head of a doll. Pathetic! XD But like, should I just clog the white goo all over the eyes and smudge it into his skull or what!? I almost dont dare touch him, so to dig around in his skull feel like I will break him. Hahahaha I feel he must be one of the most amazing things I own though, like, I might get addicted. Oh and I wish I could have showed you my face when I picked the top of his head of, I wish I could have seen myself when that happened. Looked something like this; O____________________________________O
Yeah I guess Ive got the big irises as well? Do you in that case know were to buy such with small ones? I actually had another pair of eyes since before so Ive attached pics with them both in. (but only one eye cause as I said, I CANT get them in there. XDDDD
Totally thinking the same. Haha Both men and women shall be covered. XD Its not that I have a problem with it really, (except men are ugly down there, sorry to say but they really are XD) but it just doesnt feel right. I guess that make us old fashioned but I dont mind being that. Haha
You would seriously consider a trade with me!? I hope not for anything for your dolls though cause I would feel very intimidated if you wanted something Ive never done before. ^^
And thank you so much! ;______________; I actually live more inside my head that in reality so I barely am in my room even if I am in it... if that make any sense. Haha Im 90% in my headworld and as I have such a strong imagination it really is like Im there, so even if my body here is trapped in my room I often visit towns and forests etc etc with my pals in my head so when a days gone by it is like Ive been there for real, only a very small rational sliver of my mind know that Ive been in my room - and my rational thinking part of the brain is small as a grain of sand, thats why I have a hard time separating reality from imagination, like, I KNOW the things I imagen and see that come from my mind is not real, cause that rational grain tell me so, but the rest of my brain also tell me it might still be real and true and those sides clash, so even if I know that "no its not real" at the same time I also feel "yes it true", gawd I sound like a maniac now. XD
PICTURES!!!! But I didnt send that many, I dont know how many you want? Like when he just lie in his box with bubbleplastic around. Hahha I dont wanna spam so you better say. XD And here you also can see the different eyes. sta.sh/22fc860iqdh3?edit=1

HAHHAH!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY I FINALLY SAW HIM !!! wow...that wait darn well near killed me hehe! hes a cutie isn't he
their blank faces are always so beautiful! i love them! sometimes you just don't want to paint them i felt that way with my Dollshe Saint.
do you have a wig for him yet? it's also very easy to make wigs and i think your be amazing at it too. wigs come in a fairly large verity ranging from expensive angora mohair wigs to average synthetic hair wigs, to fur wigs. i have a preference for either natural fiber or faux plush/ fur wigs. synthetic just doesn't behave the way i want it too. mohair is my favorite though i don't own any...but if you're not okay with animal products then faux fur is lovely. all my dolls except Ira wear fur wigs in my gallery right now. i have a tutorial on fur wigs...you can obviously trim and style them as you please.
maryamdn.deviantart.com/art/Fu…
and here's one on making lovely wigs out of acrylic yarn.
sols-crew.tumblr.com/post/4397…
well...you got one eye in the one you have now doesn't look too bad. smaller is preferable.
hmm... the best small irises are made by eyeco. they list the iris size as well as the eye size. they have soft glass eyes that are just amazing, but they come at a very steep price. i make my own using small glass beads i bought off ebay.
www.ebay.ca/itm/Clear-Glass-Ca…
for the eyes i make, i just make two semi round polymer clay balls, then push these glass beads into them a bit. then base the clay, paint it and stick this glass bead on the iris. end up looking like this www.flickr.com/photos/12197470…
i've also purchased these off ebay and really liked them. they are acrylic but have the round shape and also smaller irises. these have 6mm irises and the eye size is 10mm.
www.ebay.ca/itm/8Pcs-4pairs-Ov…
you can look up the specs on chase to see what his overall eye size is so that your eye doesn't end up being too small for your doll. he looks like a 12 mm to me but i dont have experience with iple boys.
yeah, there's really no right or wrong way to put in his eyes it kind of sounds like you two have been wrestling a bit it's good. what ever works for keep the eye in place is the right way.
New dolls can be stiff. he might be engineered to have tight joints (like my Heathcliff) which actually helps them maintain a pose, or he might just be strung really tightly by the company. you can loosen the strings but at this stage i don't recommend it i think you might end up having a heart attack if you accidentally let go of the strings and unstring him all together..... so lets just wait a bit and see.
woman...you is craaaazy! your art is so impressive as it is! honestly i look up to your sculpting ability! i've loved everything you've made
HAHHAHAA! i can just imagine your face like and then like
yeah that was me with my first doll too <.< ...and yes, the threat of the addiction is very very very real....there's no way around it....it makes no logical sense half the time. at least not for me...but i see a sculpt i fall in love with and i just go stupid! (as i am with dolshe orijean right now.. I'm so eyeing that doll head! and i'm so thankful i already own dollshe bodies x.x)
i think i may have told you before...but if you're on a budget and you see a doll that you like, there's sometimes the possibility of creating a hybrid doll. using a cheaper body (say from mirodoll) and just purchasing the head of the doll you want.
i can appreciate your world. I don't think you sound like a maniac. i think a strong imagination is a rare gift. you're lucky to have one so amazing and vivid that it might as well be real.

Totally awesome!!!! Though I have to save up to commish a face up, does that mean I have to take his head of and send away. O____O XD
No I have nothing for him yet. XD Poor guy, I bought him but was to poor to get any clothes or a wig or anything hahahahahha. But thank you SO much for showing the tutorial how to make a wig! It was a super awesome one at that! And I dont mind if its real or faux fur. As long as I know the animals were ethically killed/died of own cause Im all fine with the real deal too. ^^
I actually didnt get that eye in.... I just held it there. XD And gaaah you make your own eyes too!? I cant believe you. So awesome!!! But how do I know wich irises are the small ones? I should try find 6mm irises? It say Chase shall have 14mm eyes in the descript. but Ive read that some say its better to take a smaller eye then cause that look better, so 12mm for him then. Is that right?
Gawd I feel like the biggest noob and like I totally bother you with all my stupid questions.
Paaaah no thank you!!! Hahahahahah Gawd if I happen to unstring him I will not only have a heart attack but cry for a week cause there wont be any way in hell I can string him back up again. He would simply have to lie there in a heap of unstringed limbs for the rest of his existence. XDDD I checked the how to string your doll tutorial and now hope Chase strings never will get bad.
Dont saaaaaay thaaaat. Im not that good at all.
Aaah yeah I remember! But then I gotta ask, will any iplehouse head fit with a iplehouse body? At least in the same genre, like all EID heads fit on the EID bodys? On the other hand I dont think I could manage to switch heads on the doll Ive got, I mean seriously, hes like a little person, I would feel like killing him if I did that. XD If I want any other char to be made I simply must buy another doll althogheter, or as you, a cheaper body and a fancier head in that case. Haha
Thank you! <333 And I think that as long as my imagination doesnt hurt anybody its all okay. ^^ And it doesnt! Not much at least, except I kinda very much neglect the real world people/friends over the people in my head. But theeen again Ive always been a loner so my real world friends are used to it hahaha. Though I also get very absent minded and I imagen that to be annoying as hell on them around me, like youve probably noticed I tend to forget what Ive talked about and repeat myself. -____- Its not my meaning to do so, and its not that I think the conversations I have with people are boring, its just I have so much in my head that I easily forget. Its hard to keep track of 2 realitys and meeting so many people as I do, having so many convos.
But sometime I imagen how it will be if I ever find a significant other to share my life with (still am not one single bit interested so it may not ever happen since Im starting to get rather old now XD) but IF it happen Im imagening the event in wich I aks him if its okay to always come second to the people in my head. XP

awww Escaron! you don't bother me. i love talking to you ^___^
so what i do for the eyes to make sure they aren't too too small is to look put a piece of paper right on the eyes hole lightly mark both edges with a pencil...then measure that distance. that's your eye concrete eye size and no one can tell you you're wrong the problem with the company sizes is that they give you the eye socket size which can sometimes be too big for the actual eye hole. anyway, once you have that size then you can try and figure out what your preferred iris size is. if you're going for a natural look then you want to aim for around 6mm. the picture i sent you of my Saint is a 6mm glass iris. Saint has very small eye holes (as does Heathcliff, my dollshe david). if your doll has larger than life eye holes then you probably want to choose a bigger size iris too. most of the eyes you can see online should list both the eye size and the iris size. honestly...i think you would make amazing eyes if you wanted to do it yourself. I'm on a very tight budget with my dolls. i make all their stuff myself because i just cant afford to but them. there's no shame in that.
I'm not a vegetarian, i have no objection to wearing leather or fur and i use skulls and fur in my art ...so long as i know they didn't torture the animal in the process of getting the fur or whatever other animal product, i dont have a problem. i also grew up on a farm where my grandpa did shoot predatory animals when they came on our property and stole livestock. he also hunted when there was over population issues....specially with foxes and coyotes...so my stance on fur and such is something that probably bothers most people. so long as you killed the animal swiftly and the animal didn't suffer, i'm fine with it.
i have a fox skin that i'm mounting now which came from Siberia and a wolf skin i purchased off a world class taxidermist who shoots them on his property because they eat his chickens. both those animals can sometimes be considered pests here in Canada. anyway...off topic
dude! you're amazing. i will not stop saying that. i genuinely admire your work! the spirit that goes into it, the details, everything is amazing about it! i don't have a habit of giving people empty complements i'm a bit arrogant that way. your work is genuinely beautiful! i adore it and i believe you'll be able to make amazing things for chase!
hmm, i don't see you as harming anyone. in fact i think your imagination helps you protect yourself and keep mentally healthy under hard conditions. i enjoy chatting with you. i don't find it boring or repetitive at all. my life is too real. i admire that you have the ability to escape reality. sometimes i really wish i could. i think everyone wishes they could at some point. we all have our strange quirks. I'm lucky that i have an amazing husband who's both mature and kind and doesn't mind my oddness
well, why should your potential future partner know that he may come second to the people in your head? they would never interact with each other... either way, the man who you choose/ chooses to be with you will have his reasons for loving you. those things may not be a problem for him.
O.o you don't look old to me....not in the Instagram pictures I've seen of you...in fact i think you may be younger than i am
hmmm i am not sure if all iplhouse heads fit all iplhouse bodies. all EID men heads fit all EID men bodies....but i dont know if you can mix and match between the sizes....it's easy to tel though. you just look up the neck circumference on the doll body and see if it matches the neck circumference of your doll head and that'll tell you whether they will work together.
i actually just ordered two heads off of Den of Angels... One is a Luts head and the other is an tan Aimerai Nick head in tan skin .... for nick, i will probably order a body off mirodoll... when i save up the money. still miro doll bodies are $120 for a 68 cm and other companies are all over 300 ....so you see, it's a huge savings.
you worry too much ^_____^ stringing a doll is easy, you'd figure it out in no time.
and yes, unfortunately you would have to send away the head to get a faceup unless you plan on kidnapping your faceup artist...either way the head has to come off for a faceup
if might help to think of your dolls as mini humans who have transcended the limits of humanity and no longer feel physical pain the way you do it'll make switching heads easier!

Tag a quality deviant, You’re it! Quality doesn’t mean that you
have a lot of followers, or a lot of messages. It means that you’re
nice to other people, and you deserve to be happy. If you get this
message, someone is telling you that they love you as you are,
and they don’t care how much followers you have. Send this to 10
deviants who deserve it. If you break the chain, nothing will
happen. But it’s just good to let someone know that you love them!
