Hey, just been reading some more about lenses. About what I would recommend, I would suggest the 18-105mm kit lens with the D90 for R 13000 instead of the 18-55mm + 55-200mm for the same price.
Of course that's still R3000 more than getting the D90 with 18-55mm kit lens for R10 000.
I know, all very expensive! I was lucky to get the D90 with 18-105mm for R6 300 second hand. It's in good condition and the guy at the shop said the sensor is surprising clean. In the menu system you can see the life of the battery and the 2nd hand battery is recognised as new, so hopefully it will last me 4 years which is what I hear photographers expect before upgrading again.

Do you stick to your motto?
I got a spare battery for my Sony camera (after one bad expeirence at a music festival) and when I got my Nikon I got a spare for that too.
I also got a 16GB SD card so I can take 2000 JPEG (fine quality) or 1000 RAW photos both as 12MP.
I figure one day when I go travelling overseas again, I want the space to not have to find a pc every couple of days.

Oh yes!!!
i always have about 8 batteries in my camera bag(AA's) lol.
And when i get my D90 I'll DEFINITELY get a spare. I've also ended up battery-less at crappy moments... lol.
Right now i only have 2x 2Gig cards..
But i'm plan on getting a 16+Gig one when i get my D90... (its going to take a while though to rake up THAT much lol) But the camera seems well worth it!

you can save lot on battery if you avoid flash or at least set it to low power like -0.07 or -1 or -2 when normal flash strength is 0.
I was hired for a 40th party for 7 hours. I started using flash after an hour or two when it go dark and after 4 hours of that both my batteries went flat. For the last hour I borrowed someone else's camera.
At concerts I have only run a flat battery on a handful of occasions, then switch to my second.
When the first gets low, I switch it in between bands so it doesn't go flat at a crucial time.
When I don't switch, I normally have at least bit of battery left after 800 photos in 2 or 3hours. That's without using flash.
