Unfortunately no. I recently joined the Navy, and my ship-out date is in march, well before Metrocon 2011.

I may make an appearance at Megacon though, which is in Orlando sometime in february I believe.

For the most part I'll be safe. The job I signed up for will keep me on US land most of the time, though all sailors do have to go on ship for 6 months at a time about 2-3 times during their contract.

As for megacon, I'm not even sure I'll be going, and if I do I may only go as Cross one day. My friends (not the Allen and Lavi I hung around with at con) want me to join in with their Team Fortress 2 cosplays. If I do that I'll be putting together a Red Engineer outfit. All of this is speculative though, I may not ever get the funds to go. Part of the reason I signed up for the navy is that I can't find a job anywhere else :\

That's good. I frankly have no idea what goes on in working for the Navy or what is part of their training. I'm guessing you don't get seasick do you o.o 6 months is a looong time.

That's horrible >< I knew the economy was failing, but this is just a really hard hit to ya. By going into the Navy for a certain amount of time, they'll pay for your college is that right? It may be time to save up instead, but some time in the future I'm sure I'll end up finding ya and fangirly glomp you 83

Though I don't get seasick at all to begin with, I'm not sure it will even be possible to get seasick on those ships. They are basically floating cities. My job title is Advanced Electronics/Computer Field. I'll basically be working with computer mainframes and automated weapons systems.

The Navy does have tuition assistance programs. Basically, they'll pay for any class you take while you are under contract. And when your contract expires, there is the GI Bill which supplies you with money for college. Its a pretty sweet deal.

Ahh, well the last time I went on any ship was... either when I was a baby or never LOL All of this is really just new to me.

That 'is' a really good deal. I think my ex may have to think about going into the navy now because of loans and insanely immature parents.

Just hanging in there for the most part, though I've been considering joining the military. I cant find a job anywhere :\ And while I agree that education is good (college/university/ect) the money isnt there and I'm not taking out a student loan with no guarantee of being able to pay it off (this has actually happened with my cousin, he has a $60k loan he cant pay off because he cant find a job).

The house has gotten pretty hectic. My brothers gf has lived with us for a while. Well, one of my mothers college friends would literally be on the streets right now, so we took her in too. Plus we are going to be raising chickens... its gotten very crowded in here :\

Actually from what I hear, trying to have a "chicky play date" would result in dead chickens. Flocks are fine with the flock, but new chickens dont like each other. Besides, our chickens are still just about new out of egg. They arent large enough to go to the coop yet.

If I did join the military, it would be with the Navy doing something like electrical engineering or the like. I wouldnt go in for combat, and would try to have it in my contract that I dont want to go anywhere too hostile. I've actually already taken the aptitude test and have passed the physical, but am on a waiting list because not even they have jobs open at the moment. One of my uncles retired from the air force after 26 years, and now has a job on the base where he lives doing top level security stuff. I'm actually going to visit him this thursday and pick his brain to make sure the military is something I really want.

As for USF... you might have me confused with someone else. I went to HCC. HCC and I didnt like each other. So I left.

Yep! xD I don't actually own the game. It was a friend who recently bought the game who got me into it. He has also pre-ordered number 2, so I imagine fun times with the bat. I would buy the game myself, though I don't own a 360 or a mouse for my laptop >_>
