The emoticons you're using are some kind of mood indicators or something like that; I use "normal" ones.
You can find the list of all emoticons either below the reply box (right under Add a Drawing, in the bottom left corner) or by following this [link] ! There you can see what they'll look like and what you need to write to make them appear.

Example:
1.) You want this one:
2.) You write giggle
3.) You put the word giggle between colons, :like this:
4.) Voilà:

There are some special emoticons as well, which are actually fellow deviants' icons, like the moose. There are so-called pls-accounts (pls derives from please, I think), which only exist to provide funny icons. To show any deviant's icon you need to write iconaccountname and, again, surround it with colons -> what you see here is the icon of somebody who was witty enough to call himself AccountName ^^

Oh, there's no need to thank me, as I already mentioned, I love helping, and it's much easier for you to learn by simply asking somebody who knows the answers, than to learn by trial and error, like I did
