I am the fireI’ve always had a thing for fire,
for knives, for destruction though
not so much for decay; I have an
irrational fear/loathing for maggots;
maybe it’s because they keep the wounds
clean and remove the dilapidated and
all I see in that is my corrosion
and abrasion and desolation.
Humans are a petty, selfish species,
but what do you expect when we’ve beaten
thousands of years evolution and have
such a strong survival drive without the
adversaries knitted into our blood to keep
us occupied, and so we turn against one
another, friends become enemies,
neighbours turn to competition in the
endless war of greener grass and
thirst for power; need for control
in a society based on distrust.
I wonder what they’ll write on my headstone,
what they’ll say at my funeral, how they’ll
describe my passing from one hell to the next,
whether I’ll be described as a tragedy,
whether it will come as a shock or what
everyone was expecting all along,
whether anyone wi Newton's laws        What goes around,
        comes around.
And around and around and
around the maypole, the race track,
around the roundabout, around
in circled pinned to the epicentre
by a non-existent inertia,
an invisible force of opposition.

        For every action,
        there is an equal
        and opposite reaction.
You push, I push,
you pull, I let go and
watch you fall, watch you
tumble into the abyss of
despair, rejection, anger,
I stop, you push; I leave
the taste of petty revenge
sour on your absent tongue.
        Every object in a state of uniform motion
        tends to remain in that state of motion
        unless an external force is applied to it.
Let's take friction out of the equation
and avert impending disaster;
these vectors should not coincide,
but interference interrupts a
smooth ride, an CarpentryTake a blade and carve my name
into your scarred arms, curse as
lines travel astray from hands
shaking like leaves, liquid flows
the colour of autumn while winter's
fingertips trace unpadded ribs
with a wry smile.

can't you see they're not listening, merely
hearing fabrications of predicted expectations
(based on a loose cannon, oh, the irony).

I wasn'tI wasn't frightened that time,
simply filled with a calm despair
that engulfed my being in all its entirety.
I didn't panic that time,
I didn't forget to breathe though
my body shook with grief and
stuttered under the effects.
I did cry that time,
unlike the others, when I broke
and called for help because I couldn't
force someone else to deal with
a limp body again.
But I still wasn't scared this time,
when I tried to turn my blood to acid,
when I tried to force unconsciousness,
when I tried to induce cardiac arrest...
I just needed an end.
