Yeah, I actually read Profiles. Especially with people I meet via Watch4Watch.
So many people go there and all they do is trade watches and rack up numbers. If you want to get something out of that, you should at least try to be a little bit picky, and try to get to know people that you pick to Watch with. If you're the one who posts a "Watch 4 Watch" message, then you have to accept everyone, of course, but if you're replying to one, then you should be picky and at least Watch people you can stand.
So that's why I always read people's Profiles when I decide whether I'm going to Watch them or not.
How many cats do you have in real life? I currently have zero, but kittens are living in the house-under-construction next door.
What do you do in Minecraft? Me, I like to explore. That's why my most up-to-date map of my world looks like THIS!
Actually, that map sucks a little, though, because there's so little built, but in between the time I rendered that map and now I actually used some of what I've been hoarding to build some more structures at last.
But I did go on creative to make some icons. First, I made My OC as a test. Then I made Crazy Birthday 2015 as a gift. I'm eventually going to make a minecraft comic where I put my OCs into the world of Minecraft. Drawing my OCs is my biggest passion... which might be a little sad because my passion for them isn't quite strong enough. ._.
I was about to ask you what games you like, but then, since we're talking about reading your Profile and all, I did that and see Wii, Sims Zelda and Mario. Plus Star Stables... but I don't know about that. Maybe I'll find out it's about magical horses, or pegasi if I google it? Or MLP, LOL?

I totally agree! I don't mind trading watches on Watch4Watch, to help others get started and get their art noticed more. I actually met some really nice people through there! However, if all you care about is numbers, I find it defeats the meaning of the watch.
I read profiles, too, and look at art. If I like what I see, I fave some things, but I won't give people false input if I don't. (I'm sometimes lazy, though, and don't look. Haha oops. )
I only have one cat now, although she's more still a kitten. I adopted her when she was about two months, and now she's about a year old. I've had loads of cats throughout my lifetime, though! But I could never handle more than one. x3 (And that's so awesome about the kittens! How many are there??
I mainly build in Minecraft. A while ago I saw some Stampylonghead videos, and I liked his world so much I wanted to build one of my own! It's not very big, but I've only been working on it for two years, and I don't play every day.
That world is HUGE! Have fun building on it!
That pixel art is wonderful! I wish I could do pixel art on Minecraft, but the most I've ever made is some items. I so admire people who have such a talent!
And, yep, Wii, Sims, Zelda and Mario pretty much sums up my games. I did try to play a game called Fable for a bit, I can't remember specifically what it was called, but it didn't really peak my interest. I also tried Skyrim, which I heard was really popular, but it seemed really dark, and I more enjoy happy games. That's why I really like Nintendo games, because they're so colorful, cute and happy! I just ordered Splatoon, can't wait to play it! ^^
Star Stable is just an online horse role playing game, where you play as a girl destined to save an island. There's a bit of magic involved, too, but you have to pay to unlock that. The plot is actually pretty complicated, even though it is more aimed towards children, a lot of teenagers and adults play it! I'm sure if you googled it it would answer all your questions!

I don't want to sound like I'm stereotyping or anything, but it seems like maybe girls like Nintendo more than males, and that might be a piece of why it seems that way... I think girls like sunnier games more, relatively speaking, and darker games less. Skyrim was a dark game, but it was cool. But DARN was it buggy!
Wait hold up. Jerk-like word correction time! : It's not "peak" your interest. It's acutlally "pique" your interest.
Jerktime over now.
Oh man I saw Splatoon being played on YouTube's streaming of The 2015 Nintendo World Championship! So I'm sure people have fun with that, even though it's not my kind of game.
Hmm. Star Stable is online, but it's more PC-ish right? Or is it phone-ish, where you have to pay to get stuff? So do you have to pay money to get magic? No, right? Can you play the whole game without magic?
And that's neat that you only save an island, just because, in real life, if you want to save nature, that's how you do it. Everybody just has to save one specific place or species... you can't save all of nature, even as an organization.
Is it a really kiddie game? It's handled well if adults and teens play too.
Oh wait... never mind all those Star Stable questions. You just want me to google it. I've caught onto your plan now. >:3

I can see how girls would like Nintendo more than males, like you said, sunnier games. However, I do know lots of girls who actually enjoy darker games, and lots of boys who enjoy Nintendo more. It's all just up to personal preference!
Haha, and thanks for that correction! I did actually read a Tumblr post about that before, but I've never really thought about it! It didn't pique my interest, then! x3
I haven't watched any streams or reviews of Splatoon, because I didn't want to spoil it for myself! Glad to know people enjoy it, though!
Star Stable is actually just a virtual world, like Club Penguin, but with a storyline and no mini games. You can play for free up to, I think it's level five now, but after that you have to pay for a membership. You can pay monthly, or buy a lifetime membership, which is what I did. The game is fun without a membership, but you need it to unlock quests.
And you're saving the island from this evil dark magic, using your magic. There are quests where you have to save the nature of the island, but it's not the main storyline.
It is more aimed toward children, but the majority of the players are teenagers. I know a few adults play, but not a lot.
I really don't mind answering questions! I only told you to google it because someone could probably explain it better!
The thing about Star Stable is that you can only play a female character, because the story is about a girl who saves the island. I don't think they'll ever add male characters, but it has been requested by a lot of people, so who knows?

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Mewidua [2015-09-26 01:47:54 +0000 UTC]
Yep. Definitely personal preference. Glad you agreed with me to that extent, though, and didn't find me, like, disagreeable or something.
Now have you played Splatoon? You haven't watched anything of it? Sometimes, at least I've found, it's good to watch at least a little of something you anticipate so you don't get too hyped up over it and get disappointed! Not that Splatoon looked at all disappointing to me when I saw it being played on YouTube as part of the Nintendo World Championship!
You saw a Tumblr post about not "peaking" someone's interest?
And dangit I misspelled something when I was telling you about your misspelling! Even with spell checking I still did it!
Hmm. I never knew what Club Penguin was, either. I heard of it, but I never got it, or got a good explanation of it either. At least I halfway get the level concept because I know how big online RPGs have it.
Glad you don't mind answering questions, because I like deviants that do that!
Hmm... A game where you can only play as a female and people are requesting a male!! There's something you don't see every day in gaming! That's probably a good thing, in that if that's happening then it's a sign of something good? hmm
LOL NO ONE would have thought that would happen back in the days when only males played video games, that's for sure.

I actually haven't played Splatoon yet, I've been pretty busy with back to school and all that, but from what I've seen it looks pretty cute, and I'm looking forward to playing it when I get some free time! :3
I think that gender equality is very important in the gaming community, so I personally think that there should be an option for you to make your Star Stable character male. Many male players have gone around the only-female rule, buying shorter hairstyles and whatnot, but this does make it harder for female players who want their character to have short hair (such as myself), but are then accused of being a boy. xD
One thing I will never understand about all this is why we feel the need to have our online characters be the same gender as ourselves? Are we trying to role play in a way that makes us live in this virtual world, or is it just the natural instinct of "I am female, therefore my character should be female as well."? Any online character I have ever created is exactly that, a character, not a reflection of me! (I even yell at them when the game is being glitchy, as if it's their fault! xD) Do you feel the same way, or do you call your characters "me"?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Mewidua [2015-09-27 04:06:13 +0000 UTC]
I don't. I think gender equality is pretty important IRL, but in the gaming community, I don't really think so... I mean, I think it's a good thing, but if people want to make a game gender unequal, then I think they should be able to do that, especially since, if you think about it, don't most games kinda work out like that anyway?
Hmm. I didn't know that workaround-to-problem would exist in a game, though. LOL "getting accused"
Now for the fun, unoffensive part: answering you question!
I think both of those things you said 'Are we trying to role play in a way that makes us live in this virtual world, or is it just the natural instinct of "I am female, therefore my character should be female as well."?' are true, where it's one for some people and the other (or both) for others. It also has to do with what people don't like, and how people want to be viewed. I've heard people explicitly say they don't like playing games as the opposite gender, and there's also sometimes some degree of discomfort or mild embarrassment from having people find out you've picked a character of the opposite gender. Not a huge amount, but some amount, so they'd just be more comfortable playing as their own gender. I mean, if you keep playing as the opposite gender, eventually, someone's going to judge you for it. Not very harshly, but they will. And then some games like Harvest Moon and such have courtship or other such elements in the games, and I know for me it felt weird playing as a female character and courting men. And that kinda goes to a roleplaying element too, because in a game where your character isn't made for you, and you have to pick what kind of character you'll want to be, males might be more likely to think of male things like "I wanna be a barbarian/rapist" or something like that, and females might be more likely to think of female things like "I wanna be an amazon/rapist". You know. Things like that.
ONE OTHER THING. People sometimes pick the opposite gender so they will be treated differently. I think this might be more common for females. I mean, on the internet, women often get a lot of additional, gender-powered hate just because they let people know (or even just give people strong hints!) that they are female, and if they just used male or genderless names people would leave them alone. I mean, some guys find a girl gamer somewhere they didn't expect and, like, forget how to act, I think.
For a lot of people, though- myself included, when they're playing a game where you create your own character, they have to ask themselves whether they'd rather play as who they'd rather look at or as who they'd rather be. That's how I pick.
It might depend on how into the game you get I guess. When you play the same game for 40 hours each week, then maybe the character feels more like YOU. Eve when you don't feel like the character is you, though, I think everyone calls the character first person things when they're talking about what they're doing in a game 90+% of the time!
And now you bought Splatoon and don't have time to play it. People have to work too hard in school these days.

So for Minecraft you mainly play Creative, or do you build in Survival?
Stampycat!!! He got me into Minecraft, too. His videos are too much for kids so I had to unsubscribe to him, but I was a subscriber of his and I'd be lying if I told you he didn't sell me Minecraft.
I like adventuring, though, and discovery. And I play on Hard. I don't look things up on the internet ever, so I don't learn about things until I either discover it on my own or stumble upon it on the internet. That caused all discoveries to take forever, since I spent a ton of time exploring, dying, doing things ultra inefficiently, not-farming, and all kinds of noobish things for noobish reason. But BOY did I feel like a genius when I discovered the crafting recipe for a Hopper totally by myself with nothing but my personal genius ( ) and the crafting recipe for a Chest, which I knew already.
Like, here's some example of things I was doing inefficiently (by the way, don't tell me how to do anything 'cause I want to discover it all.)
If you look at my map again , there is a continent to the east with lots of forests on it. It's not the continent right to the east. It's the next one, past the Mushroom Biome and the islands. I didn't do any tree farming until very recently, and I also like to leave most of the landscape alone outside of the area I will be building in, so I designated that area as "Logging Country". I build a crappy cabin out there (that's actually pretty nice on the inside) and would go there every time I needed wood and come back with mountains of logs. That was the only area where I allowed myself to cut most of the trees, and I'd cut the oak and birch and spruce, and later, acacia, out there. I built a much better cabin on the other side of the forest and a road leading east. Way out there at the end of the east is the Mesa. I didn't know how to work clay, so I'd mine all my clays out there, and I wanted to do it without messing up the beautiful Mesa, so I mined the hills from the inside. Can't do that with the sand, though. In between the mesa and the Logging Country there's a huge jungle, and that was my only source of jungle wood.
So... if I wanted the wood and clay, I had a long journey to make to go get that stuff and bring it back to the middle of the world! Good thing there are Ender Chests to help!
And it wasn't until quite recently that I started using The Nether to take a shortcut.
Two years is a long time to be building one world, still, and Minecraft will consume your life if you play it every day, so it's good you don't!
One of these days, sometime within a year, I'm going to put my OCs in Minecraft in a comic... That will be a fun time.
Doing icons in Minecraft actually isn't as hard as it looks! You just need a big monitor and a blueprint. You need to know exactly how many pixels the thing you're trying to make is, and then you just have to decide what block to use for each pixel and build by the blueprint you have until you're done. You do need a way blow a little picture up bigger without losing the pixelation, though. MS Paint does that quite well, actually.
BY THE WAY, if these three replies to one message are too much for you, remember, you don't have to reply to all my messages in one day! If you save one or two for another day if you are overwhelmed, you'll actually make it easier for both of us then! Wouldn't want to overwhelm you!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Mewidua In reply to ToddNTheShiningSword [2015-07-26 15:17:26 +0000 UTC]
I don't feel overwhelmed by your replies! But if you want to wait a few days to reply, that's fine! I don't want YOU to feel overwhelmed!
I mainly play on Creative, because I build bigger projects, and the place where I built my world didn't have a lot of materials around it, and I was too lazy to go looking for them. I do build on Survival now, though, because my world is so big I have all the materials I need. If I don't have what I'm looking for, I just cheat for it. It's not really the best way to play, but I used to play ROBLOX before I heard about Minecraft, so I was used to just building. I do have world just for survival, though!
I don't watch Stampy any more, you're right, his videos are more childish, but I have gotten a lot of inspiration from him for mini games and such. And if I ever had the chance to play with him, I totally would!
My little brother plays Minecraft, and he played it LONG before I did, so I just learned everything from him. I think it's really cool that you want to learn everything yourself, happy exploring!

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Mewidua [2015-07-27 12:54:26 +0000 UTC]
Minecraft isn't a game where you play it "the right way". It's made to be played how you want!
I'm one of those people for whom the work in Minecraft if fun. If I cheat to build something, it doesn't feel rewarding the way working for it does. You, on the other hand, seem to just want to get the things built. All that time spent collecting resources and fighting mobs, and building the things that that necessitates, and the needs you have on Survival, all that makes all the things worth it for me.
Like, a lot of people build a road because they want one. Me, I'd build it because I NEED it! I have places farther out from home that I frequently go to, but it's so easy to get lost without a road. It might be that I see early on that I'll need a road to get to a place because I know right away I'll be going there a lot. It can really confusing building the road because I can so easily get lost. Then I also need to have materials and tools, and because I want to preserve the terrain- and because a road needs to make sense!- I need to calculate the best path. Do I build around water, or make a bridge across it? If I build the bridge, where's the best place? And are there other roads around, or other destinations? I feel like an engineer trying to calculate/plan all this stuff.
Then there's the issue of personal safety. I can't only carry materials because I'll need food too, and I have different food for day and night because at night you need to stay alive, but in the day you just need to not starve. Maybe I'd want to make waystations to sleep at... but probably not, because that would do the land with ugly checkpoints that would only be necessary for someone building a road. But this one road, I was building it through the desert, and it went past 3 desert temples! Automatic stopping points! And I have to worry about the time, because it's quite difficult to build a road, as opposed to a building, when hostile mobs are out. With a building you just secure one site, but a road goes hundreds of blocks across a dark and scary landscape. I need a Horse to build the more distant parts, and then need to keep the Horse way from Cactus and OH! This whole thing gets to be some big adventure when I'm just building a road. And it's just the beginning, because the whole reason I was even building the road was to use it later on future adventures!
I'm glad we relate on Stampy. :iconStampyCatPLZ::iconStampylongnosePLZ: dang no PLZes for him!

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I like to play on Survival, too, but I usually get bored of it once I get full diamond armor and my house is big and nicely decorated. I do, however, like Sky Island challenges, because it's different and materials are harder to get!
Minecraft is fun for adventures, but after you've been playing it for a long time it gets kinda boring just to play single player worlds. Most of my time on Minecraft now is spent on servers like The Emerald Isle and Hypixel. (I once even met Stampy's sister, Netty, on TEI! )

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Mewidua [2015-07-27 23:33:06 +0000 UTC]
That's the good part about being ignorant and inefficient in Minecraft: you can play it for months and months and months just trying to figure out how to do things, learning them just one thing at a time and having to go off on adventures with that little bit of new knowledge.
So I've been able to play hundreds of hours and yet I've still barely built anything as you saw on that map!
I probably wouldn't be any fun to play with for other people. All this adventuring has made me too serious, and I've also been too not-knowing-how-to-make-things, so yeah. I've been so focused on surviving mobs and laboring in villages that I really don't stop to play around much. It's usually 'on to the next adventure'.
You met Stampy's sister? That's awesome! That must be as cool as meeting the vice-president!
*checks your Profile*
Oops. You're in Canada. I guess you don't know about "vice presidents"
But yeah that silliness aside I bet that was awesome. What was she like? Everyone else? Not quite, right?
I... don't think I'd like a Sky Island challenge. I've seen Stampy do one of those with Squaishy, and saw others do them, and it doesn't look like my thing, especially to do alone.
*googles Hypixel and then Emerald Isle*

I never do Sky Island challenges alone. I either play on LAN or go on a server made for one. And Sky Island servers are really the only servers I ever chat on. I usually just play the mini-games as if the other players were robots or something.

Other than that, you're the robotic type? Heh I've not heard someone phrase it that way quite that they play as if the other players were robots.

I didn't get to stop and have a conversation with her, because there were lots of other people crowding around her. What I meant when I say I don't talk to people is, I'm selective about who I talk to. If my friends irl and I go on the same server, then I'll talk to them, but that's about it.
And when I said I play as if the other players were robots, I mean as if they were NPCs. I said robots because I thought of them as computer-generated robots.

I thought you meant that about other players. But now I'm not 100% sure. But wait. Playing as if they were NPCs would just mean not paying too much attention to them unless it's time for PvP or something, right? And then like robots would be more like you actually play with them in things, but don't talk to them?
Wow. Netty got, like, celebrity treatment! I didn't even know if Notch himself got treatment like that in games or not, heh. You didn't get to talk to her at all, or only got to say a little?
You probably should be selective of who you talk to. Especially if it's with a microphone.

What nice people did you meet on Watch4Watch? Maybe I should Watch them too.

I've had a lot of cats too. I reached the cat-limit when I had three cats, but then they had kittens, resulting in nine cats quickly. That was way too many cats!!! Usually when my at had kittens, at least one of them died, but that time she had six and zero died, so that was a lot!!! Now that my 17-year-old survivor-cat died, I have no cats.
There are three kittens next door. That's why the "secret clue" had three meows ( ) in it. It's cool to see kittens acting just like they do in a house, except they're playing with bugs and leaves and wild junk in addition to each other. With all the leaves and stuff outside they can play with everything, unlike inside where sometimes all they have to play with are humans and cats.
