Look-Familiar [2011-09-28 11:13:21 +0000 UTC]
I swear to God I had the strangest thing happen to me yesterday. I was hanging out in my bedroom like I do and I saw a shoe commercial for some company that sells shoes online..w.e anyway...
They had this pair on the commercial that had piano keys and the word "Arden" on it.
I don't exactly remember what Arden stood for but I know it was something associated with you and it made me think of you. Completely out of the blue, 4 years later, and yeah. I was floored.
I thought I'd let you know

It was a pen name. The word has always seemed to carry an association of wind and trees for me, with a touch of a song. It was good to hear from you. Anytime I'm playing Chrono Trigger and Schala's theme starts, you cross my mind.

ha, all over the place, as usual. School is going well for the most part, but they've just cut the sculpture department, so as of the very beginning of my junior year of college, I no longer have a major. I'm still pretty angry about it, but I'll figure it out. Otherwise, I'm learning screen printing right now. I'm coming up on hell week for that class, so we'll see how I feel about it come October. How about you? What are you up to these days?

That sounds stressful, suddenly having to change your major. Do you know what you'll switch to?
That's funny, we learned about screen printing in class earlier today. It looks pretty complicated with all the steps involved. Good luck with that!
I started my freshman year of college. I'm having a great time so far, but I'm not secure in my major. I want to major in English, but my family keeps telling me not to. I guess it's the typical story for someone who majors in a liberal art.

heh, I got lucky in that my dad wanted to be an art teacher, so he'll stop at pretty much nothing to help me out mentally.
Screen printing's not so bad once you get the hang of it. I'm really enjoying it, to be honest. As far as my new major goes, that's still kind of up in the air. I'm thinking painting because I like it and I'm not bad at it, but it's not something I'm really passionate about. Frankly, I want to transfer and keep sculpting, but that's not happening. The painting professor has told me that I can keep sculpting if I add a painted element to my work, so that's most likely what I'll do.
Oh, and about your parents telling you no: you're the only person who has to live with your choices at the end of the day. Make sure they're your choices and not someone else's.

Teaching art would be my dream job. Did your dad switch to something else? I've heard that there aren't many jobs for art teachers anymore with the budget cuts and layoffs.
Your paintings and sculptures are great, so I think it's good that you'll combine them. The vine lamp looks like something you'd see in a high-end furniture store. You've got some skillz!
Haha you always have great words of wisdom! It's true that the choice ultimately rests with me. My family will just have to get used to it. I have to remind myself that they're only interested in my well-being, and they're not trying to piss me off.

Ha! My dad was convinced to switch majors before his sophomore year and majored in economics, and he's hated his job(s) ever since.
And thank you! My dream job is freelance, but I do enjoy working with students and teaching, so I think it'll work out just fine for me, assuming I can land a job when this is all over.
My wisdom is gained by making many wrong choices.

My other dream job is also freelance! Haha but I figure I can do that on the side of my main career. Freelance is such a risky business, unfortunately.

Well that is how things are done here on the internet nowadays. And sadly I've grown out of the previous name, so I'm basically Not so bad, or myself the legend is lost.

I kinda prefer the other one if only because it's potentially embarrassing. Not that I go by Michi anymore anyway. Ah, growing up, how you change things.
