Quick question: do you happen to have a Twitter account? If so, you can follow me there if you so wish since I post a lot more art there. Unfortunately, I'm not that active here on DA since I've gotten a lot more comfortable with Twitter in the past several months.

Thanks for reading~~

No problem. I may have a little bit of skill in making MOC's but nowhere near as amazing as yours. And to be honest, making MOC hands has always been my biggest challenge.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Mikkillerib [2015-04-17 12:34:01 +0000 UTC]

Again thanks. It takes practice. I didn't get here overnight, I've been MOCing with Bionicle for a little over 10 years now. I first started trying to make my own things back in 2003-04 ish and really went full swing with it by 2006. So I've time to learn and grow. Also I've been very committed to it. I've spent a lot of time and money on this hobby to. Its not the easiest thing to get good at, but it's all been very rewarding and worth it for me. I say stick with it and keep pushing yourself. If its something you enjoy then why give it up?

As for hands, at first they were hard for me, but now they're pretty easy. Try using smaller parts. Bar and clip elements are the best options for small hands, the click joints and technic pins and axles are better for larger figures. The human hand is one of the most mobile and dexterous parts of the body, so any way you can create movement can help, especially in the thumbs. The fingers don't move as much, its the thumb that you want to move a lot, and its really what I always try to work with more in coming up with new hand designs. I wish lego would come out with some new parts for their mini-ball and socket joint system and have some bionicle and technic elements that use it more. Then we'd really be set.

I did manage to build a great hand, wrist and lower arm fused together with only three fingers made with Metru Nui matoran limbs.
I'll upload a picture when i get a hold of a SD card reader.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Mikkillerib [2015-04-29 16:23:38 +0000 UTC]

Okie doke. You might be able to plug your camera into your computer with a cable if your PC doesn't have an SD card slot.

Mikkillerib In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2015-04-30 11:23:21 +0000 UTC]

You know. I never really thought of doing that. I always thought of using a SD card reader that i plug in to my pc.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Mikkillerib [2015-05-03 08:46:50 +0000 UTC]

Well most cameras have a port so you can plug it in. My cheap camera did yours might to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mikkillerib In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2015-05-03 10:55:43 +0000 UTC]

Hopefully. And did you need to buy a special cable to do it or was there a cable following with the camera when you got it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Mikkillerib [2015-05-03 12:50:45 +0000 UTC]

Both my cameras came with a cable. I think you just need a micro USB cable. What you could do is take your camera to an electronics store and have an employee help you find what you'd need. They shouldn't be expensive.

Thats alot of great advice, but lets say that i were going to make a three fingered hand for a MOC that is approximately as tall as the official Titan Mata Nui set and i would want to limit the pieces to only connecting the shoulder/hand sockets with technic pieces to create the palm, then how would you suggest i did it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Mikkillerib [2015-04-18 13:54:26 +0000 UTC]

No idea there. Just experiment. Only you can figure out what works. The only other advice I can give is to look at other MOCs that fit that size and see what they did, and see if you think that works. Other than that just tinker around and experiment. Work on just hand designs. I some times do that, work on just a specific part and then I take it apart or leave it laying around till I find a way to use it on a MOC.

BTW. I have a titan sized MOC that i just got a big batch of pieces to mess around with and i were thinking of building a much more
moveable waist that still can support its weight. Would you suggest that i rebuild the legs and the torso to make it work together?
And do you have any hints on how to build a custom waist?
