supridiot In reply to supridiot [2008-03-10 10:44:15 +0000 UTC]

i mean, how did you get the right coordinate, the universe is huge anyway. and with what camera did you shoot it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MilchstrabeSTern In reply to supridiot [2008-09-01 03:18:11 +0000 UTC]

All the information about what equipment that was used and what camera is provided in the information for those deviations.

Everything has a coordinate in our sky, and the computer directs the scope to that object. However, you can find M51 with a pair of binoculars. All you have to do is find the nearby stars/constellations, and go from there.

Just been breezing through your photographs. I'm thinking of taking some shots of lightning but I'm not too sure on what camera to use. Any tips?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MilchstrabeSTern In reply to hypnoticpinecone [2007-06-21 07:11:27 +0000 UTC]

Any camera that allows you to set both f-stop and shutter speed of the camera will work. If you can set the ISO (digitally) that would also be very helpful. You can use film of course, except with lightning that can be expensive because only 5-10% of my photos actually have lightning in them. It's a game of hit and miss. If you have low light pollution in your area, then you can probably go with longer shutter speeds and maybe get 50% of your shots with lightning. In any case, it takes a lot of experimenting.

Okay sounds good. Sounds like you would need a lot of patience and practice before you would actually get the main strike.

But if you say any camera with those two features are good, then that's cool. I'm sure you would still need a resaonably good camera though to capture the colour and discharges.
