Hi there! Just dropped by to wish you a happy birthday. I hope all is going well for you.

Hi there! Happy Birthday! I hope all is going well for you. It's been awhile.Β
It often becomes much more challenging to be active here, when life tends to keep you busy. ^^
I haven't posted in quite awhile myself, but I have been working on my graphic novel from time to time.
Time management is still very challenging for me, but I've managed to create opportunities for myselfΒ
tactically. It's a long story, but innovation is certainly key. The great thing about art as a hobby is freedom fromΒ
the stress of deadlines. I mean, I can understand the need for deadlines in entertainment industries, but me personally,Β
I'm a slow and inconsistent artist. I don't have a choice but to work at my own pace, and at my own convenience.Β
Plus I'm a juggler of other talents that I struggle to balance. Well I wish you all the best. Oh! Here's another digital cake to enjoy!Β Β

The second year is certainly when things get really hectic. And you'd
have to be sure to back up your files as often as you need to. ^^
My experience in college was a bit embarrassing for me. I was the only
student who could only afford a carton of orange juice and a muffin for
lunch every class day, while everyone bought pricy lunches like it was nothing. XD

Yeah I know someone who had a problem with that this year, his file corrupted and he lost half his essay and had to write it the night before, luckily nothing like that happened to me Β
I have the same problem, my student finance is like nothing so I have to work at the same time as studying and everyone else gets their rent and food paid for by their parents and I'm just here like Β

It's the worst. I failed two classes because I was never able to retrieve my assignment,
and long after I no longer attended college, the memory device decided to work somehow.
My time in college was so ridiculous. Every computer I touched or machine would act up on me.
I was only able to make one successful student film. I had two, but the first one I made, I lost my
file. I just generally had allot of bad luck with technology, and this is considering that I did everything
I was supposed to do to make sure those things never happened. And it happened anyway.
It sucks being poor. I almost never hang out with anyone, because every place they wanted to go cost
money that I never have. I end up just going home each time, and pretend like I had stuff to do. I met a
girl that I liked, and we hung out, but I wasn't able to treat her to anything. We talked for a bit, but then
nothing came of it. I tried applying for work studies several times and never got it. Those were unproductive
times for me. Eh, only in my world I guess.
I do wish you the best in college, though. As for myself, I think I'm better off with watching "how to" videos,
and be self taught. I've been using book references and researching online. While I'm stuck working different
day jobs, I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. I still haven't figured anything out.
All I can do for now, is invest in myself, and continue to work on my visual novel, among other things and hope,
something comes of it.

Boooo that sounds super unlucky hopefully everything worked out in the end though
And being poor is the worst, I am being screwed with the student accomodation prices and I live in a really expensive place when I am at university so that doesn't help. I had to say no to going out so many times and had to ask my dad for help this semester cause I wasn't getting enough hours at work, truly sucked, but I have two jobs next year so hopefully its all cool. I seem to find it really easy to get jobs, like all the stuff I applied for this year I got so I'm pretty lucky with that, probably helps that my Dad and Mum both managed things and helped me when I was younger by telling me what needed to be in cover letters etc.Β
I'm sure something will come of it if you try I'm a bit nervous about my chosen career path, I want to be a lecturer in early modern history so that means doing a Masters and a Phd and then loads of my own research before I even get a job. I'm trying to get all the experience I can at the moment

Thank you. ^^
I've never lived in a student dorm before, but I can imagine how expensive that
must have been. But I'm glad you have something already lined up for you. That's
pretty cool.
I'll certainly continue to try my best. I'm glad to hear that you have a chosen career path.
I'm still trying to figure out my road map, sort of speak. For the most part, I find myself
juggling many talents, and I like them all the same. The most consistent one I've done was
being a musician and a singer at my church. I seem to always end up with mind numbing jobs,
Β At the end of the day, I'm just too mentally tired to get anything going.
I almost never have time to work on any of my creative projects. And to make matters worse, I'm
surrounded by non artist folks in real life, so I don't really have the support I really need. I kind of
do, but it's more like I am pressured in the the direction I never wanted to go.
With them, I had to walk on eggshells. Lot's of improvising and working my way around them and
around incoming oppositions. If it wasn't for this community site, I probably would have given up as an
artist a long time ago. I could barely get any creative work done. And when I do manage to post anything
here, it's a miracle for me. I come from a dysfunctional family. It's a long incredible story.Β Β
All the more reason to write a novel about my life experience, though it would be in the form of visual
metaphors under the genre of sci-fi/fantasy. ^^

I lived in dorms first year and then this year you had to live in a house with people but there's companies you go through to do that, they charge so much but I only have one more year here and then I hopefully get to move somewhere cheaper Β
And I have always thought that if in the future, when I'm a lot older, will I look back and regret giving up on drawing etc. I don't want to regret that decision so I try not to make it. Can be hard though and I get you, people have so much exposure to great art that sometimes you show them something and they just say like oh thats good but there is better out there so you might as well just leave it to them. Puts me down a bit but my best friend is studying art in university and I am so happy that I get to speak to her about it, her biggest complaint is that she doesn't have time to draw what she wants to. And I would seriously love to write a novel but I definitely don't have that kind of creativity in me so if you think you can why not, even if you are the only person who sees it at least you did it Β

Indeed.
Late nights are usuallyΒ my best time to work on my writing.
But drawing is harder since I need a real work space. All I have
is my notebook as my only table. I have a number of unfinished
artworks and it kills meΒ that I haven't gotten around to any of them.
I try to make time even on aΒ
busy days, Iβll push for it, but the only down side is that it wonβt come out
As good as it would if I could work on it on a calmer day. The strife of pushing
Through would certainly show. Thatβs only good if I really wanted to express strife,
But for art works with a more calmer content, there would be unwanted contrast.
But I guess itβs best to simply let it show, since itβs the truth of my circumstances.
ΒI'm having trouble with my connections. It's slowing down my typing process. I tried
fighting this by copy and pasting my comments from word document, but it didn't help.

I get you, its lucky I have desks and stuff here that I can use. It used to really annoy in at college when I got told that my art work looked rushed, I used to be like of course it does -_- I have so much work to do and not enough time to do it. And you might as well, if there is no way of avoiding it, maybe you will just adapt and in time they will turn out just like when you have more time. And its ok don't worry about it, I can still understand it.

Cool Thanks. It looks like the connection speed is working just fine now. ^^
Yeah, even now, the drawing I'm working on, is a bit shaky. If I had more time,
and even a good table to work on, it could have been more steady looking. But
I went ahead and scanned it and started digitally coloring it. Hopefully the visual
concept will still communicate at the very least.
