Oh, hallo! Mir geht es gut, wie geht es dir? ('Dir' is a conjugated form (I dunno ) of 'du', German second-person-singular. We would call each other 'du' as we know each other quite well and we're young. If we were adults and didn't know us, we would say 'Sie' or 'Wie geht es Ihnen?' instead of 'Wie geht es dir?')

Hat die Schule fΓΌr dich wieder anfangen? Did school already start for you? Hast du jetzt Deutsch-Unterricht? C:

So verwirrend! Ich hoffe es bald zu verstehen.

(sorry, back to English for me! )
School starts on September 6th for me. I'm not taking German at school, but my mom teaches me a few words. But so much has changed, it's hard to learn. :/

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-10 12:14:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh, you lucky thing! D: Germany definitely sucks in vacation – I heard that our summer holidays are the shortest in the world (or one of them) with only six weeks! D: It started in July – ends in August.
At least in my state. I prefer when there's a full months without school due to vacation. We had that last year.

This whole reply is actually a single ''

Golly That's no fun! How much time do you have off for Christmas?

I don't blame you!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-19 20:24:04 +0000 UTC]

Two weeks for Christmas – my best friend who lives in Saxony only has one week of Christmas holidays, but two weeks for winter. In my state, we don't have winter holidays because you can't ski or do any other kind of snow sports here~.
How about you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-19 20:51:20 +0000 UTC]

Wow
We have one day off in September called Fall Break, we have a week for Thanksgiving off, then two weeks for Christmas/New Year's, a week off for Spring Break and I think that's it. few otehr days off here and there.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-20 08:08:19 +0000 UTC]

Our fall break is also two weeks, just the Easter break.
... 'n then, there are so called 'bewegliche Ferientage' (it's ... 'moveable free days', I think. Let's just go with that) which are mostly used for bridge days (a holiday that's on a Thursday – these 'moveable free days' are put on the following Friday so we have a longer weekend). Our state has five, but three of them 'disappear' in February due to Cologne Carnival.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-20 14:48:44 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like it would get difficult after a while :/
But I remember you talking about the Cologne Carnival That sounded cool.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-21 08:29:32 +0000 UTC]

Oh, we get a leaflet by the beginning of every half-/school year where all the holidays are written on, so it's okay C:
Yeah, it's quite nice. I like the dressing-up, but ... the parades, the drinking, the 'Prunk-/Stunksitzungen' are not for me. Actually, only the dressing-up

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-21 14:17:14 +0000 UTC]

I think we get one too, we just have 2 more weeks

Yeah, dress up sounds nice. Once again, I wish we had something like that here.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-21 21:40:44 +0000 UTC]

I'd say it's some kind of counterpart to Halloween – even though we also have St. Martin's Day which is quite similar, only without costumes and with self-made lanterns with which you go from house to house and sing special St.-Martin's-Day-songs c:
Well, some kids go trick-or-treating on Halloween, too, and I actually don't like that, 'cause St. Martin's Day is only two weeks later

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-22 03:07:48 +0000 UTC]

I love Halloween! Free candy! Plus Disneyland holds a bit Halloween party every year But Christmas will always be my favorite

DISNEYLAND!!!!!!1!11! WHOOOOOO!!
TELL ME MORE ABOUT THAT PARTY

i'm cool. <.<

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-28 01:09:35 +0000 UTC]

Well everybody dresses up and trick-or-treats at Disneyland with all the characters. I've never gone, but I hear it's a lot of fun. I always go to the Christmas Party though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-30 12:08:42 +0000 UTC]

...
THEN TELL ME ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS PARTY

... I live close to an adventure park called 'Phantasialand' – I've told you about that already. Years ago
Well, when I was eight, my dad and me were driving past it to check the Christmas decoration and there were people standing at the entrance and said we cloud go inside because ...
... because someone booked a private party in there and they thought we were guests. We got free drinks, yay!
so i could tell you something too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-30 14:06:04 +0000 UTC]

That's like the Christmas Party. It's only for Disney cast members and their family, so the park is pretty empty It's nice and cool and everybody is nice because they all (or most) work for Disney. (some people are rude because they act like they are SOOO special and own the place)
Anyways, it's just a fun little thing

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-31 15:01:42 +0000 UTC]

Sounds really cool

... Oh my, how can I formulate this ...? ENGRISH WATS RONG

... "Can you ride rollercoasters in the park? Like, are they 'on' at this party?" C:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-08-31 18:05:04 +0000 UTC]

Yup! All the attractions (rides) are on at the party.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-08-31 19:42:42 +0000 UTC]

Was that even correct? Like, they are 'on'?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-09-01 02:51:35 +0000 UTC]

Like you can ride them? If so, then yes, we can ride them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-09-01 09:49:05 +0000 UTC]

No, if it was proper English. Can rides be 'on' or 'are they going' or ...?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RiverEcho In reply to MissSpringfield [2012-09-01 15:14:18 +0000 UTC]

Both can work. You can put it "Are the rides on?" or "Are the rides going?"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissSpringfield In reply to RiverEcho [2012-09-01 20:09:19 +0000 UTC]

Great, thank you! I learned something now; great for English advanced classes (yeah, you barely notice it, but I took it)!
