You are welcome I am currently doing research for my version of a Steampunk mermaid that will be a blend of different styles that together have that theme. So costume detailsΒ and pose are what I am looking for, but also attitude because this little lady is going to be one mad fish....

I totally get that. How's work these days? I scrounging for professional theatre design work...and picking up some by the skin of my teeth. AT least that is what it feels like.

I am a little tired of working with Interior designers as sculpture work is so slow I can not find it. I am old enough to start a new career maybe give in and run a CNC machine, who knows...

So, down in the doldrums it is for both of us. Don't worry...rain is coming as my grandmother always said. Rain relieves the pressure on your brain and you can think clearly. Β I hope that helps both of us. Dang. I hate that you are not getting sculpture work..but there has to be something worthwhile in the interior work???

I would like to say yes but other than the money I got lectures from 2 different client, basically because they thought I took too much time even though they were bid jobs. Keep in mind these were jobs that few in the US could do, not your normal handy man jobs. One was working with Compo and the other a special addition to an existing kitchen. That one had so many changes that it drug on for 4 months but of course the designer was the girl friend so.... I of course was a fault.
But things are looking up there is a new shop in town risen from the remains of an old one with a new spirit.
Do you work for a school, teach? and is the other stage work you are looking for additional or has something changed?

I really am a university professor in a department of theatre. As much as I enjoy teaching in a place where an apprentice program would be more useful, I find I really hunger for that professional work where I get to work with competent people in ALL departments. Like a tennis player, you can only get better if you play with better players. So especially during the summers, I am looking for work in summer stock, repertory theatre, or regional theatre or whatever I can manage. (We are not paid during the summer months.)

I once did work on my MFA so I could teach and have the summers off to play then it dawned on me that I would have to have money to play. I did teach at collage level for a year in my old profession of ad design and illustration as an adjunct instructor. One of the reason I am think about a job is that I work at home all alone now and I feel I need some work relationship to grow. However often I have found some creative people are not good at that and are catty so I generally end up working for my self again.

Geeze. I have run into that cattiness regularly. I have advice if you care to take it: Other folks who annoy you should not be considered arbiters of your value. They are reflecting only their own value. Anyone who really wants to have an artistic conversation with meaningful help, criticism and usefulness, will do just that, and not tear you down. Β And now I am embarrassed but really feel your dissatisfaction regarding unstable artists.
