I dabble in taxidermy/skinning and tanning, and love working with faux fur and latex to make costumes. I am a teacher and jazz musician by trade but am in the process of starting up my own business called Monstrosities.

Dear Recipient,

It has come to my attention that you have been viciously trying to murder my favorite button. The assassination failed and the button survived for others to use it still.

Thank you for trying anyway, the annoying little button had it coming! And you have faved some of my photos by doing so! That's even more awesome! Proceed to trying to smash my +Watch button to pieces if you want to receive more Fursuit/Animal photography! I try to upload regularly!

Haha, awesome! I was hoping to find out who was under the suits and who made them. Was loving them at the festival, and loved the concept of bad parent monsters with a kick-around baby. Where abouts are you based? Just having a look at your gallery, love your work!

Aw, thanks! And back at you. We're based in Wellington, and the monsters were inspired by your wampa suit at Spinfluence. Andrea had a go in it on the chains, and after that she was all "We need aerials-capable monsters, but they have to be REALLY SILLY!" Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of time for aerials at KB, but we're working on a counterweighting piece for them, and hopefully they'll be able to do some basic adagio too. Eep!

BTW it was various people in them, but mostly Andrea in the green one and my partner Joel in the orange one. He's normally pretty unassuming but put that suit on and Instant Ham!

Some time in the future I would like to have a proper conversation with you about costuming. It looks like you've been doing it a while?

Yeah that would be great to talk in person. So honoured to have inspired the suits! I remember Andrea from Spinfluence and the flying Wampa. Haven't been in the costuming realm long - only about 2 years. I'm working on heaps of suits at the moment - just need to get decent pics of them - the only camera I have at the moment is my ipod so pretty bad quality. I met Sparky at KB, and she's North Island based and makes costumes for a living - she made the dinosaur one and we had fun costuming together.

Next festival (maybe Spinfluence? or a sooner one) we should plan a monster stage piece or monster tricks, or monster cuddle pile or something fun like that. Thinking of making a Fur Camp or costume themecamp next year at Kiwiburn.

I would totally be up for a monster stage piece. We haven't tried ours yet but I'm pretty sure we could do basic acro and adagio in them, and they are harness compatible for aerial madness too. Or even just a giant monster mash would be fun too.

Count me in!

Also, if you happen to be passing through Wellington, please look me up, I'd love to get together and talk costuming!
