# About me

My name is Jessica and I am an amateur cosplayer from NSW, Australia. I have only been involved with cosplay for about a year now. My boyfriend and I organize mini-events in our local area for cosplayers, such as bbq's and picnics that present great photography opportunities and the chance to make friends with similar interests.

Yeah well, we figured out that's the reason behind my migraines as well.

It's an easy course, lol. Most of it is stuff I learned in high school.

I have cosplayed in the past, and I go to a lot of conventions, but I haven't in a while. At conventions I usually have been wearing the lolita fashion lately.

I love lolita! Both of my cosplays so far have been Neko and involved lolita style dresses.

Oh that wonderful to hear! It's always nice to run into someone that knows what it is on the internet. In real life if you are not at a convention or with other lolita's you usually have to explain XD. How long have you been into the fashion, may I ask?

Well, I saw a friend of mine wearing a Gothic lolita dress t a friends birthday party a few years ago and complimented her on it. She was the one who explained to me about the fashion and I went home and looked it up. xD

Sadly, I only wore my first lolita dress about a year ago which is the pale pink one that you see me wearing in some of my pictures on here. But it is a beautiful style and deserves lots of recognition!!!

Ah I see. It nice to have a friend that is in the fashion with you and explain it to you. It's more fun that way! I didn't have any friends that were into it when I discovered lolita, so I had to look up everything myself ;.; Having slow internet didn't hep things either lol.Β

It's not bad for a first time dress! Unfortunately the lace does look a little low grade for most lolita dresses but it still looks nice on you! If you are still interested if getting other dresses, inexpensive places (since brand such as Baby the stars shine bright and Angelic Pretty can be pretty expensive) I recommend is Bodyline www.bodyline.co.jp/ and most of fanplusfriend (I've never worn anything from here, but I have seen other people wear it and it look's nice. Apparently they mess up on custom sizing a lot though, so it's better to just find something in your sizing in the first place) www.fanplusfriend.com/ . There is also tons of offbrands available but it can be a little confusing to know which is the good offbrand and the bad offbrand. If you ARE interested in the whole offbrand thing, this site hellolace.net/ has a good guide to it, and/or just look up reviews of anything before you buy it. There's bound to be something. There is also ways of buying dresses second hand if you are interested. Hopefully you don't mind me throwing a whole bunch of lolita info at you!Β

Haha I hope it will one day. Still it's nice to see people all over the world into the fashion!

Thanks a lot for the recommendations and yes, it does come in handy when you have a friend who is into the fashion and can explain it to you as good as any computer can.

The material of the dress is also a bit thicker than I would have thought for that particular style, but I will blame that and the quality of lace on the website that I brought it from since it's been brought to my attention in recent weeks that most of their cosplay outfits are cheap knockoffs and very poor compared to ones you might get for the same prices in other corners of the internet. Even still, it was my first dress in the lolita fashion and also my first cosplay, so it holds a special pace in my heart. I like the second cosplay dress you see me wearing in the pictures from this years get together though. It was quite a bit more expensive, the lace is a much better quality and it's made of the same stretchy-style material that leotards and stuff are made out of. It also came with a little over-the-shoulder cardigan which adds an adorable aspect to the already cute look.

Indeed, meeting others from around the world who like the fashion and share the same interests as me is always good. XD

No problem. Glad I could help.

Ah I see. I understand. I am probably going to keep my first bodyline dress even though it is starting to get worn out (that is not usually a problem, but it's due to the material that they used for that particular dress). Β have to agree, the second dress does look better, but as you mentioned, it is still in the realm of a cosplay dress, rather in the fashion itself (hopefully I didn't sounds rude saying that. I couldn't figure out anyway of mentioning it otherwise)

Indeed, it does make the internet a more fun place haha

You were very helpful, thank you.

You didn't sound rude at all and I completely agree with you. The second dress was brought on ebay and the seller had good feedback, so they were a lot more reliable than the site I brought the first dress from. But I was happy with the first dress mainly because it suited my cosplay needs perfectly at the time and I absolutely loved the color and pattern even though it was obviously no where near what the item description and picture on the website actually showed. I was disappointed that it was not what I originally thought I was buying though, but I have learned my lesson and will not buy from that website again in future.

The second dress even came with a certified tag that read "Gothic Lolita" on it, hahaha. It was hand made.

Indeed! And I am happy to have been greeted by a fellow lolita.

Sorry for the really late reply! I was busy with my university work and DA was put on the backburner for quite a while.

Anyway, yeah it can be difficult to chose the "right" buyers on what you see and what you get, soΒ  I'm glad that it turned out good for you in the end regardless, ofhaving the colour and pattern that you wanted.

Haha no problem c:
