The reason I posted a comment on your profile was that you favourited the artwork on December 16, 2017 which was two days after I posted a comment drawing attention to the fact that it was stolen artwork and giving a link to the original work.  My comment was sitting there at the top of the comments in bold and there are at least seven other comments further down the list warning people that it and all of the other works in the "artists" collection are stolen/copied.

You were one of quite a few Deviants flagged as "joined today" or "joined this week" who had favourited the stolen/copied works in the past couple of days.  Hence the second sentence of my comment asking "Are you just a Deviant created by the offender?"  I accept that you probably weren't created by the offender as you took the trouble to reply to my comment - unlike another who responded by closing his/her account!

Please don't take offence at my comment, or this reply.  I simply don't like the idea of Deviants posting copied/stolen artwork with the expectation that it will be viewed and favourited by other Deviants.  Plagiarism should not, IMHO, be encouraged, condoned or supported on any forum and certainly not on a site such as Deviant Art.

I agree with the fact that art should not be stolen or plagiarized. I will try to keep my eyes open to spot any other stolen work.

If you mean how to delete favourites, Browse Favourites and look in the top right for the [Edit Page] button.  With that you can rearrange images or delete them by clicking in the top-right corner of each image.

Mordasius, Is there a document or some examples showing the extent of animation that can be achieved in Rainmeter.  You know my steampunk stuff more than most and I want to determine whether the end result of any conversion is worthwhile given the current abilities of Rainmeter.

Also what is the state of development of Rainmeter? Is it progressing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AzizStark In reply to yereverluvinuncleber [2015-10-01 12:50:40 +0000 UTC]

I think xwidget is better, it has smooth animations! But rainmeter is easy for coding!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yereverluvinuncleber In reply to AzizStark [2015-10-01 12:56:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'd agree with some of that - unsure as to whether Rainmeter is easier for coding as the Yahoo and the Xwidget widget engines both use javascript which is an easy to use scripting language in ready use everywhere. Example:

        //===============================
        // press on the single page of paper
        //===============================
        singlePage.onMouseDown = function () {
            var a, b = null;
            var a, b = null;
            clipboard.opacity= 0;
            singlePageRaised = 0;
            a = new MoveAnimation(singlePage, 95 * Scale, 90 * Scale, 550, animator.kEaseIn);
            b = new ResizeAnimation(singlePage, (40) * Scale, (55) * Scale, 500, animator.kEaseOut, moveThePageBack);
            animator.start([
                a, b
            ]);
            if (preferences.soundpref.value === "enable") {
               play(pageTurn, false);
            }
        };

That bit of code adds a mousedown event to an object called singlePage. When it is activated then two animator functions are called that move and resize the object smoothly to a new location
It then plays a sound if a sound preference is enabled. Fairly straightforward javascript, the animation function being exclusive to the Yahoo widget engine.

Rainmeter just uses .ini files and most of it is self explanatory enough for average users to go in and change any skin to do what they want. There are a few things to learn, likely, but I feel overall it's miles easier than learning Javascript.

yereverluvinuncleber In reply to Space0ctopus [2016-05-08 11:25:48 +0000 UTC]

Well that is a response from the deep dark past but appreciated anyway. My reasons for never diving into Rainmeter are solely that I want to use and enhance my javascripting skills.  I have largely given up widgets now in any case as there is not a lot of call for them now. Thanks anyway.

Hmm.! I have not made any skin for xwidget or yahoo widget! I make rainmeter skins only! And javascript scare me!

yereverluvinuncleber In reply to AzizStark [2015-10-01 13:35:58 +0000 UTC]

javscript is logical, there are ; at the end of lines and it uses {} to denote the start and end of functions, and () around conditional if statements. It is also very easy as to variables as there is no strict typing.

Apart from that it is similar to Basic. With the Xwidget engine you can choose VBscript instead of javascript if you want, both work! If you can handle basic - and I think everyone can - then you can code in VBscript and then to javascript. The thing all these languages have in common is that they are scripts, all fairly similar in function, only the syntax and built-in functions are different.

Intresting! I will try Xwidget! And i have downloaded your steampunk widgets, is there any way to make then work with xwidget?bcz both work in java script!

yereverluvinuncleber In reply to AzizStark [2015-10-01 14:23:38 +0000 UTC]

I have several that have already been converted to xwidget and will run straight out of the box. They are listed on my gallery and on my site. Each yahoo widget can be converted to run on both engines. There is some conversion to do altering .voffset .top &c and changing the in-built functions to those compatible with Xwidget. Sometimes Xwidget has built-in functions that replace the yahoo version. Each conversion takes a couple of days or more depending upon the complexity of the widget. I plan to do them all but limited time prevents completion now.

Don't really see too much of my rainmeter stuff there.  The title shot (Steampunk: The Time Lords) however looks similar to something I did with XeonSphere in Second Life a decade ago. Who knows. Good luck to them anyway I say!

Thanks for the Heads Up.

I get a serene satisfaction from styling my desktop. I am capable of creating things like screensavers, slideshows, icons and cursors. These are small accomplishments and don't require a lot of artistic talent only imagination. In the new art of the internet, Mr Mordasius is a true pioneer. He is a Leonardo of the desktop and much more. I wish him my best and hope he continues to blossom.
