well,, she is the one survivor out of a litter of 4, her two brothers went exploring one day and were believed to be taken off by either a coyote or wild bear. Her sister was accidently drowned along with her father when he went to cross a deep river when holding her, but the current was too strong and killed them both. Her mother, distraught from the loss of her pups and mate, scorned Shadow for being the only survivor and disowned her, leaving her to fend for herself. Shadow has been fending for herself ever since, surviving on rabbits and carcasses, searching for a mate so she to can have a pack..

She has a quick temper and is always first to resort to violence, she finds it hard to trust others, but she has a soft spot for pups and adores them.
