Thanks a bunch man. What did you study? Because I was studying Multimedia Design at uni this year but It was taking me in the direction of motion graphics and mainly animation. I really wasn't happy with it, so I'm trying to swap to Graphic Design. Is that a good move? Is flash something that is really important to know? In terms of websites and such?

no worries.. i studied a diploma in graphic design at TAFE, which was awesome.. don't go to uni. either a private college or tafe is best.. uni isn't practical enough by the sounds of what my friends say...
if you wanna do web, then flash is the way to go...

Hey man I just had a look at your site and I was wondering if you could offer any advice for getting into this business. The fact that you have a bunch of designed album covers really caught my eye because it's one of the things i would really like it do. Seeing as you're also from Australia I figured maybe you'd be able to give me an idea of what to do within the context of where we are compared to everyone else, is it a factor? Mind you I have only just started to delve into graphic design so I have a long way to go, just wanted to get some ideas.

hey dude,
well i pretty much went to tafe for 2 years when i finished school in 04'. I then started my business first year out as i had a few jobs that popped up through tafe.
The first year was pretty tough trying to build up the clients but then the beginning of this year Toby (who started working with me mid last year) and myself wanted to take on the focus of music, which is a passion of ours. As our office was in a recording studio it kinda helped having the contacts there, but now we have moved out we are still trying to build up work (esp. in the music scene)..
I guess there is competition in Australia, you have designers like Dubaser, but we really want to become renowned as the Australian CD art designers.
But my advice to start is; have passion, have determination, don't give up even when it is hard, take whatever you can (eg. for me websites are my bread and butter until I get more CD art designs)...
