to those questions, i use gimp and paint, photoshop don't works (dunno why) and i don't have a (forgot the english name for it xD) also i use a mouse ^^

well out of paint and gimp , it would probably be gimp that is better

for using a mouse instead of a tablet i would suggest that you just practice with drawing different types of lines, to get the strokes down

and then for colorin there are tools that help-
I use the paint bucket and then I shade with a lighter and darker color by using the paint brush and then smudging what i painted with the smudge tool

uhhmmm .. i need a little time to translate everything, cause i don't understand all xD

but i can say to u that i don't have many problems with coloring, i just don't find the riht colours for the skin (for example) and i can't make shadows.. i'm so stupid ... Q_Q

for coloring skin- click on the color box at the bottom screen and try different peachy shades of orange and yellow, that's pretty much all you can do for getting colors

Shadows- picture in your head where there would be darker spots than others and then pick a darker but similar color the the one you have and color over it and then using the smudge tool smudge it around to make it blend XD

but my problem is still, that i use that one tool, to get a coulour for the skin from another picture, and then i don't have any similar colours^^
