Haha, it's all good! I use acrylic paint and sharpies as well as paint markers on canvas shoes.

Acrylic paint? Damn, thats what I've been using on the jackets I've painted but it keeps cracking. I've started mixing it with fabric paintto try and stop that Any tips? I'm kinda surprised because they are canvas shoes I thought fabric paint would work; either way, they looking hella fine
The sharpie makes sense, they literally can draw on anything.

There are two kinds of acrylic paint. Hard and soft body. The soft body paints are made for fabrics and textiles. When acrylic paint dries it's almost like plastic, so when you paint on a jacket that gets folded and is constantly moving and flexing, the paint is bound to crack. With shoes, there is just enough flex not to crack the fabric. I also use fabric paint and fabric markers, but the colors aren't as vibrant and the acrylics are virtually waterproof. They also have what's called "fabric medium." It's a clear liquid that you can mix with acrylic paint to help the fabric absorb it better. Also, it's good to spray your pieces with a matte or gloss varnish to give it a nice protective coating after you've finished. good luck!

Ah, I didn't know that there were two types of acrylic. I'm guessing the one I'm using is hard body I'll look into getting soft body acrylic from now on I have a paint - leather sealer which I have been using instead of varnish; it works pretty well but I need to try layering it.
