Naw, I'd like to! Really trying to push out projects this year and hopefully get to that point. I was one of those people that kept trying to figure out what "their thing" is (After trying a lot of different things). And it wasn't until late last year I found out that it was more likely to be comics. That's pretty much my story so far XD I did try to read up and self teach myself regarding the subject so that probably helped a teeny bit but there's still a lot out there that straight up confuses me.

I wanted to be an author when I was smaller, but realising that I had no talent what so ever to write, I decided to tell my stories through comics instead

Hoo'man. Well I was a fine arts major so basically everything up that alley. The only thing I can say I haven't tried yet is 3d modelling and oil painting, the latter was mostly avoided for dodging the cost of oil paints altogether and the former just wasn't taught. As for personal projects, just my monster girl zine from last year. It's not a comic or anything but it's just got illustrations of monstergirls on each page.
Awh~ but that's great though! It's keeping the dream alive. o uo I always told myself I didn't have stories worth telling so comics was always a thing that I figure I couldn't do. But it was sort of non-sense because over the last two years or so I've been helping edit a friend's comic with absolutely no problem at all. XD Like setting up scenes and figuring out the flow and transition for the reader were things I picked up somewhat naturally. (I'm sure it could be better though) So it's just been a weird thing of ignorance on my end before really picking up comics. The point of realization was when I was fed up with being lost over what my thing was that I gave it a shot and read "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud. And at some point while reading it I realized how much of the medium that I could relate to and I just had a huge "I'm SO stupid" moment I guess.

Oil painting is kind of fun! I'm sure I'm doing it completely wrong though.. My gramps was an artist and a comic writer, so I've been kind of fooling around with his stuff time to time. And your monster girls looks great!
So you are like a master editor? Maaaan, your friend sure is lucky! I always kinda force my parents and/or friends to read my comics before posting them
And I think you can learn a lot from correcting others work! Really looking foward to read you comic, I think you have a lot of stories to tell

As for the book, it depends on what you're into. The one I mentioned focuses on the theory behind everything which was what I personally resonated with and it's the way I like to learn stuff. But he has another book called like..making comics I think? That's more to do with the actual application than the theory side of it (although theres a brief overview of application in the understanding comics book as well). Some info does overlap between the two but they do very much so focus on different things. I'd recommend taking a peek for sure at the very least. o uo
