No worries Really nice...if I were the kind of person who looked good in sarongs, I would totally comish one!

You can batik anything, and that's a pillow not a sarong lol.

Well yes, but sarongs look very pretty when batiked! I might be able to pull off a pillow case though

I'd have to buy some yards of silk but I could make sarongs and sell them.

You totally should! Do you guys have a farmers' market where you are? Or a local trade show? I know a lot of people who sell stuff like that.

There are a lot of people on here who sell their sewing, plushies, carvings, sculptures, customs, jewelry, etc. on there. Basically anything that you'd want to buy that isn't a print is up there

No worries. I think you should make some *flattering* ladies' clothing. Most of the stuff up there is baggy tie-dye shirts and shapeless sun dresses.

I wouldn't know how to make girls clothes, but I can buy white stuff and batik it.

I think that's what most of the people on there do. If you went somewhere like Target or J.C. Penny's and got some stuff on clearance, you'd only be paying like, $2 for a top and maybe $4 for a skirt.
I think I'd like to try batik myself, but I don't want to get into storing all the supplies

Williamo86 In reply to Nana-cat [2009-11-10 13:56:41 +0000 UTC]
The supply site I use has clothing suitable for batiking, cause there's a whole thread count issue.
And I have an entire dresser full of supplies...and about 10 5gal. buckets full of dye.

Nana-cat In reply to Williamo86 [2009-11-10 15:54:32 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'm not getting into that. I think I'll stick to fabric markers and Rit dye
I didn't realize you needed a specific quality of fabric, but that makes sense. Otherwise you might end up with some really shitty looking colours.

Yup, highest thread count you can find and only pure organic fibers like silk and cotton.

Yeah, we're technically okay because of the LOC, but at the rate we're going through it, we might run out before Greg's out of school/I get a FT position >_<

We don't even have those here...might be nice if we did, it'd make Christmas shopping a lot easier.

Nah aldis is all food. No-name brand food. Seriously...it's crap you've never heard of in your life.

I suppose getting people buckets of no name brand salt pork for Christmas isn't really a good way to make friends and influence people...

Hahahahaha probably not.
But my kid's teachers are all getting candles that smell like car fresheners this year.

Nana-cat In reply to Williamo86 [2009-11-15 23:24:26 +0000 UTC]
Haha, I remember getting my teachers presents....yeah, they all got candles and ornaments and stuff like that. I kind of wonder how many boxes teachers could fill with all those presents they get every year...
As a sub, I might get a card if I'm at the school long enough before the break starts, and I've gotten things like candy canes. Never anything that would have made my car smell better. God knows I could use it, though! Lol. I think there might be a law again burning candles while you drive, though...

Same here. When I worked at a daycare I started in May, and that Christmas all the female workers got presents and I didn't get a single thing. Out of 60 parents not one thing.

Awww, that sucks. I always got presents from the kids and their parents. We didn't have any guys working at any of our centres, though. When I *went* to that daycare as a kid there was *one* guy working there. There have only been about 3 more since then.
