A llama is a sign of friendship. You can give llamas to everybody, but you can only give 1 llama per person.

You know the buttons by someone else's page where their stats are? The ones that say 'Send a Note, Give, and +Watch'. Click the 'Give' Buton, and select 'Give a Llama'. Then, Follow the directions from there. ^^
