Life has been too much of a mess for me to even barely get on here.
Working 6 days a week doesn't really help that. xD

Good to hear.

And it's full time.  10+ hours at the office, and now some time at home, too.  I'm working from 9-9:30 for the next couple of weeks.

But at least I'm getting along well enough.  The little time I have left to myself at night I'm able to spend recuperating for the next day.

But between everything I've been learning, it's definitely worth it.  After all, look at what I sell! xD

Indeed.  Whenever I'm working on code and the like, I also have music to listen to.  Might be a bit too electronic-y for your taste, but here is the link to my Soundcloud likes.

I'm learning about the gold and silver trade, retail sales techniques, LOTS about online sales (eBay, Craigslist and the like.)  And now, code. OTL

It's pretty busy around here as of late, actually, because we are working on importing a huge shipment in from China of supplies that we sell. (Plastic ziplock bags...like 500,000 of them.)

I do, however, read a lot. We have not only the library, but a virtual library online.

I've tried to learn code before, but I kinda stopped when life got busy. I should really get into it again. I enjoyed it and I understood why most of it worked. It's really like learning another language.
Are you working on anything or just learning?

Nice!  Sounds like you're able to really immerse yourself in your job...or a good book.

I am working on learning enough HTML, CSS, and eventually PHP and MySQL to build a Wordpress website for the business.

You link it like this: put an http:// in front of soundcloud.com, then use a / and your username. soundcloud.com/notjustafaeryta…  The way I did it before on the other comment was using an \ tag (minus the backslashes, DA wouldn't let me put it up otherwise.)

I'm taking a college class on Microcomputer Applications. It's basically Microsoft Office 2013. My husband's grandma thought I should take it and offered to pay for the tuition, so I took her up on the offer. I actually think her real reasoning behind it was she wants me to help her with things in the future on the computer, since she can't quite get the hang of it. >.>

There's many ways to link things, but those are the two I know.

Well, learning a program like that is helpful to you, but I'm not so sure how much it will help her in the future unless she likes writing letters...I'm sure you're pretty proficient with computers, though, right?  If not, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do remotely.  No need for anything fancy like Teamviewer unless you feel its absolutely necessary, though.  Just describe what you're wanting to do and I'll do what I can.

Well, I'll be learning Access, Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint as well. I wish we were learning Publisher, but I'll just have to teach myself that I suppose! I'm sure there are tutorials online.
Yes, I am. My dad taught me lots, though he knows more (like how to run a DOS box). He can fix just about anything that's wrong with a computer.

I'm hoping they hire a new IT teacher out at our Vo-Tech, because I'd really like to take their classes to become certified this August. If not, I'll take the graphic design though... They have a web design part, and Photoshop and other fun things! Yay!

And eventually, I'd love to start my own business to teach people to use computers (and/or do things on the computer for people) and to design flyers and web pages. And to write. Still trying to break into freelancing. *sigh*

I can already see that my life is going to involve learning advanced tech skills, programming, and sales techniques because that's currently what I'm needed for in the family business.  When the time comes that I'm not needed for that and the business grows beyond just us, I'm probably going to end up on the road for a while and visit everyone I've met online that I haven't had a chance to meet in person.  I'll probably end up freelancing in my free time, when I'm not travelling.

I sure hope they do hire a new IT.  It'd be awesome for you to be certified!  Then you could read an e-book while you're fixing the library's internet network!

Running a DOS box is no easy task.  I've had to do that a few times, but it's no fun, very complicated, and sometimes hazardous to the computer when I don't know exactly what I'm looking for.  But I'm always able to fix it through system restore or re-installing the OS.

Codecademy gives a structure to learning the code that makes it easy for me to learn.  I wouldn't be able to follow all of that unless I knew how to structure it, and since it supplies that, it's easy to follow.  I even know how to use CSS now!

lol, yep! I'd love to get on with the City as an IT or even a company.

I know its not. I've watched my dad do it 100's of times, especially when I was younger. To my knowledge though, he's never wrecked a computer. XD Now, it's either really hard to get into the DOS box of new computers or something, because he has to get a DOS Box simulator for all his old games.
Thank goodness for those systems restores!

It's very helpful so you can see what you're dealing with before you try it from scratch later!

I want to be a freelance writer, but I'm not any good at it. :/ I'll just stick to my fiction, I suppose. And I would ghost write, except it's hard to find a job that pays... well, more than $250 or so for a 50,000 word book.
