I have never heard of Slash or Shonen-ai. I'll try drawing out some characters aswell. I like the idea of the boss.

Okay so Slash is like, a genre of fanfiction (or an original fiction) involving pairings two male (male x male, basically yaoi) or female characters (female x female, basically yuri) together; characters are commonly shown with a slash in between. Ex. Derek/Stiles. Which equals Sterek, an otherwise popular non-canon pairing in the Teen Wolf fandom. Slash works often have homoerotic content included in the story line. 

Shounen-ai is a Japanese genre, but is used in non-Japanese/original works. It is basically a tamer version of yaoi. Which means there is no graphic sexual activity going on. And bromance/kissing/hugging/touching but not beyond the removal of clothes--is the most of what will express Slash relationships. Uhh, I hope that helped? xD
